My son (2 1/2 months old) falls aleep during tummy time! Does anyone elses baby do this? Its really cute and he sleeps really well. I just get nervous because they stress 'back to sleep' because of SIDS. Any comments, concerns, or info is welcome.
Also, he's been extra sleepy the past couple of days. Perhaps a growth spurt?

Never leave him unattended while on his tummy. My little one still falls asleep during tummy time too....he works at it for a minute but then lays down and sucks on his hand until he is asleep. I find he does better if I set him on my chest and talk to him. He also goes through sleep days, he will have a few in a row and then not so much. He still sleeps the same at night so I just let him sleep.

I agree with the others, in terms of, so long as you are careful and keep an eye on him, I wouldn't worry too much. Just remember, it isn't suffocation that sets off SIDS, it's a lack of oxygen, which signals the brain to stop breathing. Also, congratulations on tummy time working out, because it isn't for me. Mine hates it, and it's a constant struggle. I am definitely envious.

This is the only way my daughter will sleep (now 3 months) and she is fine. I still put her in her cradle in my room to make sure i can hear her at night but she sleeps 8 hours a night and her acid reflux doesnt seem to keep her up anymore at night either. Thats how i slept at night and my 3 siblings and we're still going strong!

As long as you don't have blankets and toys around his head and he is able to turn his head from side to side on his tummy, I'd say you are just fine. Let him sleep on the floor while you read a book or something!

aww! My oldest used to fall asleep during tummy time! Id leave him (never unattended) for at least a half hour, it seemed to help him with the whole gas situation, I had trouble burping him, for some reason no matter what I tried, he wouldnt pass gas, but when on his tummy hed let them rip! I dont see much wrong with it, my aunt told me that she would let my cousins (ages now 34, 32, & 30) sleep on their bellies as well, hope this helps you!!
