3 months and sleeping through the night?

My boy Austin is nearly 4 months now and has been sleeping through most nights from 7.30 to 9.30pmand sleeps mostly until 5.45 and 8 am. I am breastfeeding and he has been sleeping this way for about 4 weeks or so now. Of course if we go away it throws out his routine and he wakes in the night again, but mostly I can't complain.

Hey there.. My dotter is 3mths & 1 Week.. She sleep through the night too *wink*
But she's awake in the day, taking occasional naps for bout 30mins sometimes.. hehehe. So it's a bit tiring as i have to juggle cleaning, washing & cooking while she's not asleep.. But in the evening, she can fell asleep after 7pm & wake up at 530am =)

My baby is 3 1/2 months old and he's been sleeping anywhere from 6-9 hours every night since he was 1 month old. We think it's because of the super tight swaddling technique from the Happiest Baby on the Block.

my daughter goes to bed around 10:30 and sleeps till 8 so yes i know what you mean! it is very nice. :-)
but when she goes through growth spurts like every 2 to 3 weeks then she wont sleep through the night. but it's all good!

YES! My baby is also three months and like two weeks ago she started sleeping the whole night 8+ more hrs, but she is up most of the day.....I also put cereal in her last feeding....yay for some more sleep for mommys!!!!!

Mine is also sleeping through the night :) She is four months now, but she has been sleeping through for about a week. She goes down around 8-9 and then wakes somewhere between 5:30 and 7:00. It is fantastic. I have not started giving her cereal or anything, she seems to have an enormous feed before and after, but other than that. :-) I am loving the full night's sleep.

My little girl's been sleeping through since she was about a month old, but she kinda cycles. She'll sleep later and later then she'll wake up pretty early. I'm only just getting to the point where she wakes up from 6.30 in the morning to about 8 regularly. She has my sleeping habits =]

I just use an evenflo nipple i think its number 2. I don't use much cereal though. Some use more I know. If you are going to try it i would experiement with different sizes. Every baby sucks different. =)

I have a monster too! 15.5 lbs and 27 inches. Bigger babies seem to need more food, but usually sleep better earlier!

My daughter didn't sleep through until around 3 months...never used cereal in her bottle. But my twins actually surprised me and started sleeping 6-7 hours at 2 months and now they sleep between 8 and 10!! My son sleeps more because he's bigger. I think it's all about their individual sleep patterns.

Yeah he will eat 6 oz at a time. I give him 6 at night before bed. He sleeps through the night. His PED said babies need a minimum of 24 oz a day and he is right at 24-26 a day. I'm just kinda waiting it out til after monday. I never gave my older girls cereal in a bottle so that will be new to me. Noah is 3 months and 3 weeks and weighs 14 pounds and is 24 in long. He is my biggest baby!

That's what my son did, and still does sometimes. He's a big boy (18lbs 27 inches) Try giving him a little like 5 ounces with a teaspoon and a half of cereal. It's okay for a 4 month old to eat 4 to 6 ounces and the truth may be he's still a little hungry. Every baby's different though. I know I have a monster lol.

Man I have tried everything. I tried the gentleease formula, low iron formula and I've experimented with every kind of bottle. Now he is on soy formula and has been for 2 months and I havent noticed a difference. All PEDs are different so its hard to know what to do! I get so tired of the spit up. I'm changing his clothes all day. I onlky give him 4 oz every 3 hours during the day cause they said smaller amounts more frequently is supposed to help but it doesnt and hes screams when the bottle is gone cause hes not full. I will have to pick up some rice ceral after his GI on monday and see if that helps him.

Well the advice for acid reflux we got was to put about 1 teaspoon of single grain gerber rice cereal with dha and ara for each three ounces of formula and it does help. It just helps it stay in his stomach I think. He gets zantac twice a day once when he wakes up and once before he goes to bed. My son didn't have to have an upper GI because the zantac and cereal helped him a lot. But I know some other things they say is to keep them elevated after a bottle for about 15-30mins. And to raise their mattresses at a slight angle to keep everything down. I'm so sorry you're having complications! AR is the worst. Have you tried seeing if it's a milk intolerance also?? My son was also sensitive the the milk and we had to switch to a formula with reduced lactose.

Hi Victoria. My son also has acid reflux. Does the cereal help that? My PED hasnt mentioned that to me. He was on zantac and now prevacid. It doesnt seem to be helping. He goes in Monday for an upper GI. Did your son have to have one of those? I could really use some advice!

My son is almost 4 months old and has been sleeping through the night for almost a month. He normally sleeps for about 10 hours! Sometimes longer. He takes small amounts of cereal in his bottles due to acid reflux in addition to zantac twice a day. He barely sleeps during the day, maybe 3 small naps about 30 mins each. I'm confused! I enjoy it but i didn't think baby's were supposed to do it. Is there a possibility that anything could be wrong?? Or am I just a over-worried new mom? =))

Noah stared sleeping through the night at 2 1/2 months and I am loving it! He goes to bed between 8-930 and sleepts until anywhere from 6 to 730. He is not on cereal yet. My older kids never slept through the night this soon!

Mine would sleep through the night most nights starting at 6 weeks. We never put cereal in his bottle, our Dr. advised us not, it causes them to overeat.

My daughter is 3 months and a week and at about 2 and a half months I started putting rice cereal with her breast milk before bed because otherwise she would wake up every four hours during the night and she will sleep from 9:30 to about 7 or 8. I had to start giving her formula during the day too because she was hungry every hour with just breast milk. and yes it is very enjoyable to be able to sleep through the night.

i have a twin boy and girl, 3months4wks. my boy sleeps through from 8.30/9.30pm to same time in the morning, my girl goes down at 7, then wakes for a bottle at 1am and again at 6am. what cereal is it you can put in bottles as ive never heard of that?

My son is now 4 months old...he was sleeping 7.5 hours straight at about 2.5 months until 3 months. then he starting waking up again every 3-4 hours. After a week and a half of that, my husband and I were exhausted...I need alot of sleep. So we brought him back into our bed, so i wouldn't have to get up to feed him. He continued to wake up every 4 hours, but I didn't have to wake up completely to feed him. So, now at 4 months he's still in our bed, he wakes up once to eat; then again once for the pacifier. I think our cats are disturbing him at night, because they try to get under the covers or run across our feet and baby can feel that movement. BUT, we tried putting him back in his crib, and he got cold...so back in our bed he went. His nighttime temp is so hard to get right when he is alone in the crib...he is either cold or gets too hot. I can't figure out what to dress him in at night. He's comfortable temp-wise in bed with us, and I like to wake up with him next to me. he's happier when he wakes up next to us too...so, eventually when he's older we will have to transition him back into the crib. I really think his mattress is just uncomfortable, it was a hand me down...don't have the money right now to get him a really good one. Any suggestions on sleep clothes???? Also, he used to be swaddled to sleep, but I quit that thinking he had outgrown wanting to be swaddled... it didn't help or hurt so he's going to stay unswaddled...long post, I know.

Enjoy it while it lasts! My son is 15 weeks and had been sleeping like that since 2 months. Suddenly last week he stopped sleeping through the night and now he wakes up every night in the middle of the night about 4 hours after he goes down. I thought maybe he was hungry, so I tried cereal, but it doesn't seem to help.

hi. my girl is 3 and half mnths now and she has been sleeping right through from 7pm to 6am since she was around 8 weeks. She does not take much of a bottle before going down. I have 5 girls and they all slept through the night from 8 weeks. Im one of the lucky ones. Although now they all get up at about 6 or 7 am. And my oldest is 10!

My daughter has been sleeping through the night since she was 5 or 6 weeks old. A blessing because I do not function well on little sleep. She started sleeping from 9:30pm until 5am and now I put her down for the night between 7 and 8pm. She always wakes between 5 and 6am no matter what time she goes to bed. Quite amazing really. I used to feed her often in the evening to help get her into this pattern and recently started to give her the last feed earlier to get her into bed earlier.

I put mine to sleep at 2 to 3 am in the morning because his father plays video games as soon as he comes home from work. so i wish it would be earlier. but he sleeps till like 11 or even 1 in the afternoon. so it's enough sleep for me.

WOW! I may have to give that a try...my little one is still really inconsistent at night! He has slept through the night twice...but every night or a few times a week would be WONDERFUL! I return to work on Monday, so the extra sleep for me would be great!

My little girl also turned three months on the 23 and she usually goes to sleep around 930is and stays asleep until 6 am. I do give her a bottle around midnight but she rarely wakes for it. And after her six am feeding she usually sleeps until around 10am.

My daughter turned 3 months on Dec 23. She has been sleeping through the nights now for about 2 weeks on her own. We put her down between 9 and 10 and she doesn't get up until 6. We love it! I am breastfeeding and we haven't had to add cereal to her milk. I think we are lucky:)

my daughter kira from 6 weeks old has been sleeping thorugh from 10-11 till 6-7am its been great!! kira is now 15 weeks and really hates sleeping through the day i try baby massage should i give her farax in morning with bottle??

i feed my son baby rice on a spoon and give him 4 ounces of formula after right before bed and he sleeps from 9 at night to 8 or 9 in the a.m. my oldest son on the other hand is two on the jan. 3rd. and he just started sleeping threw the night.

my son is 3 months and now he is sleeping thru the night every night...and about 2 or 3 nights a week, he will sleep for 12 hours straight! i love those nights! but like Miss Sarah, my son used to sleep thru the night at about 8 weeks but only a feww nights a week with cereal....and ive started to give him cereal and applesauce on a spoon for lunch and hes doin great and right after he eats that, he will go right to sleep and nap for hours...lol i love it!

My baby girl turned 3 months on the 15th of this month and has been sleeping through the night since about 2 weeks. At first, she was waking every 2-3 hours. I finally figured out that she's a belly sleeper. I know that it's against what all the "experts" say, but that's what works for us. She'll go to sleep between 9 and 10pm and won't wake up until 8-9am the next morning.

My son was a little over 3 months (I think just a couple of days after) and started sleeping through the night. Sometimes 9 to 11 hours! Isn't it wonderful. I missed my sleep! Does the cereal seem to help at all? I haven't tried it at night yet, but my little man drinks a good 8 oz before he goes to bed.

Yes, mine is pretty much on that schedule. Put her down at 930ish then she will wake up anywhere between 330 and 630 to eat then go back to bed till about 1000. I LOVE it!
