my 17 week old twins eat 6oz 6 times a day. (formula) They are 13-14lbs.
There is a formula to figure out what they need
there weight x 2.5 and then take that number and divide it by the number of feedings a day
example 13lbsx2.5= 32.5 divided by 6 feedings=5.4oz 6 times a day

I have a chart from the Dr.s Office that says a 4 month old should be consuming 27 to 39 oz a day formula or Breast Milk I nurse so I haven't a clue how much my baby is taking in I just think sometimes she doesn't want to nurse long at all and when I pump I'm lucky to get 3-4 oz right now she's 4 1/2 months now I feed her baby rice cereal 1-2 times a day but your baby's weight will let you know is what kind of answer I get when I ask I think she's doing fine to drink 6 oz as long as she isn't throwing up after you feed her is she eating anything else? How often is she going w/o a bottle between feedings?

If they are hungry feed them. As long as they aren't making themself sick they are fine. They know when they are full unless they have stomach problems like my son has acid reflux. He can only handle 4 oz every 2 hours with rice cereal (otherwise, he would never feel full and would eat 24/7 if you let him). Which is perfectly fine. He isn't over weight he is growing on time for his gender and his length. IT ALL DEPENDS ON YOUR CHILD! There is also what they call a "snacker" taking like 2 oz to 3 oz every hour to hour and a half. Again, perfectly fine. You have to go by the child... they will tell you.

I was told at my 4month check up that a baby can't manipulate you for more food. (My daughter is in the 98th percentile so I was worried I was overfeeding her.) If they are hungry, feed em! As long as they aren't throwing up you're a-ok. My daughter takes about 6 oz per feeding and is almost 5 months.

My daughter was on 6oz at three months but really settled once she reached that amount. She only lasted a few weeks when ever she moved up an once. a few babies that attend a group i go to were on large amounts of milk very quickly xx

my son turned 4 months on jan. 30th and he had been eating 6 oz since he was just over 2 months old and he weighs 14 pounds 7 oz, and apparently right on schedule for his length too. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. For the last 3 three days he has been eating so much (6 oz every 2 hours) so I actually upped it to 7 oz for now.

no, my daughter is 4 1/2 mo. and she drinks a 6 oz. bottle about 5 times a day . You just have to make sure she's maintaining a healthy body weight ( talk about it with your doctor! ) and take your cues from her. If she's playing with the bottle rather than eating than she's not hungry , if she sucks the 6 oz. right down then its okay.
well, it really just depends on how fast your child is growing, i give my little girl 4 oz of formula 2-3 x's daily, and shes 4 mths old, and the rest of the time i mix half and half cereal and formula, and she's growing extremely fast, my doctor says not to give her too much formula cuz you dont want them to get used to eating a whole lot, or when they get old enough to start eating regular food, they'll want a lot of it and you dont want them to gain weight too quickly, but i think it just depends on how their growing!
oh! not at all! My Ashleigh is in the 50% of both weight and height at 3 months and she will somethimes take 7oz. It's usually 3-4 oz at a time, then an hour later she wants more. Babies will not overfeed. They go through little spirts, like now Ash won't even do 4 oz. But that will change soon, i'm sure! If they want it, give it!

ultimately you daughter will let you know she has had enough... i thought the same about my son but he let me know when he had enough and he never spit it back up so your not quite in as much control over what they eat as you think... its kind of suprising actually

my son is 4 months old and is also drinking 6 oz. i am breastfeeding basically full time. the only time i dont is when i am either at school or work. but just recently my mother-in-law said that he doesnt seem satisfied from a 4 oz bottle. but when she gives him two more ounces, he's satisfied.

my daughter takes up to 9ozs in some feeds. It differs from baby to baby but as long as their putting on weight healthily it should be okay. Plus on most formula packets they have infomation on what they should be taking. Even though my daughters on so much she only has about 4 feeds a day. If your still worried talk to ur doctor x

I fix my daughter Grace 6 oz at a time, most of the time she eats it all, sometimes she will only eat 5 oz. It just depends, it seems like she lets me know how hungry she is. We actually had her at 4 oz at 3 months, and within 1 1/2 hours she was fussing that she was hungry. I think it completely depends on your baby's growing rate and appetite!

I don't think so! My son Kaleb was formula fed from 3mo-12mo and he was taking 8oz bottles at 3 months!!! He was huge! He is 5 now and is very tall and thin! He wear's 6slims from OshGosh that have the expandable waist in them and I have to put the waistband thing on the first setting for them to fit him right!! Looking back 5 yrs, he needed those extra ounces because he was a very active baby boy!! Crawling by 5/6 months, pulling up and climbing on everything by 6/7 months, and walking by 9months (running at 10!) She knows what she needs, and if she is satisfied at 6oz, give it to her! :O)
