its not our summer here anymore but i put my boy in outside pool when he was around 3 months...it was pretty much like a bath outside!! now he is almost 9 months and loves the water, does "swimming" lessons at the pool and would stay there all day if he could!! just stay with them and all will be fine!!

Yes just be with her all the time and empty when your done so there are no accidents! My little one even goes to "baby" swim class and loves it . A bonus to it is a very easy to bed and long night sleep!

My son just turned 9 months and he was in an inground pool with me 2 weeks ago. As long as the water isn't freezing it's fine for a baby to be in it. She'll love it!

My girl, 9/9/9 loves baths and got into a pool via floating device a couple of weeks ago. I have bought a baby pool, but rainy weather has kept me from filling and using yet. I anticipate a very favorable response from her though and can hardly wait! Getting sand for the sand box too! :)

My son loves the water, in any shape. From the shower head, bath tub, pool, etc. His first pool experience was a cold/windy one, I just made sure to keep him close to my body to keep him a little warm (we stayed in only a little while - didn't want him to get too cold) and wrapped him up tight as soon as we got out so he didn't get cold there either. I would go for it. The sooner the better. We started him at 2 1/2 months.

I'm in Australia, so we are coming into winter here, so she had her first swim at 2 months. She loves the water. It can be a bit of a shock at first... but give her a few minutes to get used to it and she will be fantastic.

We're going camping next week- can't wait for Punky to get in the lake! As long as she's happy we're going for it, and i soooo hope she'll be ok. So far it's only been tubs and baby pools, but I think as long as I make sure she's not too cold it'll be fine. Told my dr we were going on our last visit and she seemed to think it was fine :)

What about camping... If baby is used to warm pools, is it okay to start to introduce them to a colder lake, maybe just feet first, then knees, etc?

I'm a big camper and can't wait to bring my baby with me. I've held off only because I feel wrong putting her into a cold lake.

My daughter is 8 months old too and she loves the pool. I live in Maine and its a slight bit chillier up here so we just make sure the water and warm and she goes to town! I agree with the sunscreen thing though. Keep applying it atleast every hour especially when they are in the water and make sure you apply it atleast 20 minutes before even going outside...good luck and have fun this summer!

Yes, my daughter is 8 mos old and just loves her baby pool and the 4 foot pool. She was scared for the first 5 minutes or so but after that she didn't want to get out.

Yes maam :) My 8 month old LOVES water. We took him to swim for the first time a few days ago in a 4 foot pool. He loved it! His daddy & I held onto him the whole time. We also have a little baby pool set up in our backyard. We try to warm the water up a little bit for him first though. :) Have fun!

oh yes! and as long as you are calm, she will love it! just make extra sure she gets lots of sunscreen- water reflects and can cause a nasty sunburn :)

Yea, my daughter loves the pool. I have taken her in a baby pool and a 4 foot deep pool. I just make sure I have her. I used to teach mom and tot swimming and it is better to get them in the water when they are younger. I know this might seem mean but it is best to dunk them when they are young too. If you blow in their face before you dunk them they will hold their breathe. They will be alittle scared at first but it will be ok.

of course...I do it all the time. Don't ever leave her, obviously but they're is no reason they can enjoy a little "swimming."
