I have traveled from Australia to Minnesota on my own with a 12 week old, and driven 12 hours between Sydney and Brisbane. I would recommend one of those travel pillows shaped like a u so you can rest your babies head on that if/when they fall asleep (more to protect your arm though). A baby carrier like a baby Bjorn makes getting through airports and around much easier (but an 8 month old may be too big for that) I also recommend getting an all in one baby change mat/nappy/wipe holder so you only need one hand to grab the nappy change stuff. Lots of bibs and it helps if there is a washing machine at your holiday destination. Don't stress, baby will be fine and people are very helpful when they see you traveling with a little one.

Hi Aimee, I don't know where you are from or where you are travelling to but as you spelt "travelling" with a double "l", I am assuming you are from a Commonwealth country. Therefore a "abroad" trip will probably include a plane or ship I recently flew from Sydney to Memphis with my Sept girl Indigo. The best advice I can give is respond to what she wants. When she wants to sleep let her, the same goes for eating. Indi was very good travelling because she is generally very flexible with her routine anyway, and she was a great little flyer. The airlines recommend feeding them during take off and landing, and this also worked well.

Basically, you need to stay as unstressed as you can, and she will too. I noticed the one time I was worked up, she began to feed off that. You enjoy the trip and she will enjoy her holiday too.

If you are flying great cuz its only a couple of hours to your destination. my baby was great make sure you pack extra clothes in the babybag i thought one was enough! stuff happens when you dont want it too! and if se is breastfed then you should be good food but your baby will be into finger foods by then so bring some snacks for her and yourself!

I'm from KY and my bf is from NC. We live in NC now but the ENTIRE pregnancy I went to a Dr. in KY. 5 hour trip there lol actually 6 with pee stops. We go to KY every month now to visit family and stuff. The week after my son was born we drove back to NC. Here are somethings you need to do. Stop every hour or so because the vibrations from the road will hurt her back. We didnt know that and my son cried for DAYS. Literally. Bottled water is you new best friend. We have a case for the car and one for the house with 2 bottles in his diaper bag at ALL times. If you bf then they have these mobile breast pumps. I used that when we were on our way home from KY after he was born. Also TOYS. Keeps them busy when they wake up. As long as you do little things like this you should be good. And if possible travel at night that way they dont throw off their sleeping schedule. Good luck!

We had to travel by car from Washington State to Charleston SC when my sept baby was 3 weeks old. It sucked so bad. he was colicky and didnt sleep at night and we had to stop so much. 8 months should be better. Just make sure you pack TONS of extras for her! And if she is bottle fed bring water cause the water is gross on the road and you cant warm it very easily. That was one of the things I didnt like about traveling. Good Luck!!
