i have a set of twins and we can see several teeth getting ready to come in. they love food and do everything in their power to get into our plates (we don't let them). just curious how everyone started approaching solid foods. they were born in September 2009.

my son was born sept 28th...he loves food and is like a vulcher when he sees me sit down with a plate lol... he eats things like any kind of noodle in tiny pieces of course...rice....he LOVES Gerber Crunchies its honestly what YOUR comfortable trying. You know your baby better than anyone else. You can try different things and if he gags or anything you can try again later.

my daughter was born 9-4-09. She has been eating people food for about 2 months now. I just make sure it is soft and easy to mash with her gums.. She absolutely loves chicken.. I also give her fresh veggies like carrots, peas, green beans and soft boiled potatoes.. She loves all kinds of foods. Haven't had any problems. Good luck

My son only has 2 teeth, but we went straight to table food, no purees. I have food allergies so I'm limiting him to things I'm not allergic to, and starting with mostly veggies, a few fruits and occasionally something whole wheat like pasta. He had his first cracker yesterday and LOVED it. If you are comfortable with it, start giving soft foods and see how he does, he may surprise you.

A list of things my guy has tried (usually cut into a spear shape so he can hold it better): Avocado, banana, roasted sweet potato, squash, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots (steamed), whole wheat pasta, canteloupe, pears, watermelon, peas, I think there's more but that's all that comes to mind lol.

Our 8 mos old started eating baby food @ 5.5 mos and jarred food @ 6mos. He is getting bored with it though and I have started giving him puffs, banans, watermelon, mashed potatoes, bread (it was wet & soft)...he has no teeth just yet so we're going real slow! But he is very interested in them and is working on chewing but has a tendency to spit them out after chewing for a while rather then swallowing? Some go down, some get stuffed in his cheeks (always make sure they are done because my 1st born would do the chipmunk cheek thing too and then would start to choke and we had no idea why? ugh...), and then some come out...Their gums are SUPER hard! You don't need teeth per say to eat! Take cues from your baby, w/in reason of course! My son would love to take the drumstick off my plate and start munching, which of course is a NO NO! LOL Good luck!

my son (8 months old) eats a few table foods, like bread sticks, mashed potatos, mashed grean beans, thinks like that. With the bread keep a close eye on him. But take it slow dont rush. I would go up in the baby food stages because stage 3 is teaching them how to chew.

My son was born in Sept. 09 as well. He eats table foods and gerber stage 4 is a mesh feeder. He eats stage 2 baby foods easily but is bored with them. He eats really soft or quick dissolving foods in small bites he can pick up. Things like mushy carrots, gerber puffs, gerber yogurt melts, and gerber lil' crunchies. His favorite are the crunchies. He only has 2 teeth on the bottom.

I started feeding my son table food about a month ago. He was born on September 12th. A close friend of mind has 5 kids and one night we were over at their house for dinner and she asked if I had wanted to feed Caeden what they were eating which I think it was spaghetti so I said I would try it and she put it into a little food processor and it made the spaghetti pieces small and he loved it. The next night he had beef tips with noodles that were all chopped up. He loves eating what we eat... there are a few things I wont give him yet but for the most past he eats what we eat. I also started feeding him cereal, like real cereal and I just put his formula in with it instead of regular milk and he loves that too!

my son was born 9/23 and began rice cereal (with dr ok) at four months - by five months he was eating fruits and veggies (i make my own) by 6 months i had introduced meats (chicken, pork, ham, beef pureed). last month i stopped doing purees and he now eats what we eat - i just chop it up fairly small....in the last two weeks or so he's had two teeth pop through, but was doing very well "gumming" everything before that.

I have 2 sons; 28 months and 8 months. My oldest started cereal at 3 months (after speaking to his pediatrician for the go ahead) and gradually moved to solids. My youngest was born in September of '09 and he started cereal at 2 months and gradually moved to solids. My oldest did not get teeth until he was 10 months old and my youngest doesn't have any teeth yet though it seems like he has been teething forever! Honestly, I think it depends on your comfort level. I started giving mine easy to chew foods such as mashed fruits and veggies, mashed potatoes, eggs, etc. If given in small amounts it is not hard for babies to mash the food with their jaws. I also give my youngest biter biscuits, graham crackers, toast, etc. He eats what we eat as well as baby food. Older babies love to eat table food and as long as you watch your twins so they don't choke I say go for it. Have you tried the #3 meals from Gerber and the Gerber Graduate meals? Those are closer to table food than the 1s and 2s and your kids might like them more. Also, I give my son a spoon, a small toy, or some Gerber Puffs while I am feeding him or while we are eating so he feels like he is part of it all! He loves it.

Good luck!
