At what age did you start feeding your baby rice cereal?

Our little one is 11 weeks and we've been giving her rice cereal in her last bottle before bedtime. Since then she has been sleping a min. of 7 hours at night.

Alyssas Doctor said that if your baby is eating a bottle every 2 - 3 hours then you can start your baby on 1 tablespoon of formula in the morning to make sure your baby is not allergic to anything , then keep your baby on one serving of one tablespoon a day ubtil the babys next apt . which would be the 4 month check up :) Good Luck,.

I called my doc and asked him when I can start feeding her cereal and I was told the sam thing. But she wasn't getting full at 8 weeks, so he told me to only and 1 teaspoon per 4 ozs. Now she's sleeps 6-7 hours a night

i started feeding my son on rice cerial when he was 2 months old, a woman told me it would help him sleep trought the night an he wouldnt be restless, i only feed it to him at nights and its ok to give it to them this woman had her babies on it when they where 2 weeks old. i did not do it that early, but there is harm in trying. and if he gets constipated buy infants friend you get it from the chemist. its about 10 dollors, its all natural and helps.

My son Carter was 2 months on 11/1 and we started him on rice cereal around 6-7 weeks. He was a big baby at birth and at this point he is taking 7oz at each feeding! I really think it depends on the baby. Talk with your pediatrician. :)

We had to switch our lil boy to soy formula and it made him constipated. I asked our ped about it at his 2 month check up. He told us to buy stage 3 prunes and put 1/2 teaspoon in 4 oz of formula and let it dissolve. And that worked too. Just another idea :)

As for giving him Rice cereal. We started him about 3 weeks old. He just never got full enough. But he was the one that would take it buy bottle or spoon. So he now eats oatmeal buy spoon every nite and morning. He loves it and sleeps from 11pm untill 6 am every nite :)

You just have to do what you think is best for your lil one.. Trust your gut.. its usually right :)

My bub is nearly 9 weeks old, and for the past 2 weeks, I have been giving him half a tea spoon of rice cereal with his last feed before bed time. It seems to keep his tummy busy over night. I don't believe that they need much more than that. I find I do have to feed him more frequently during the day, as he is now adjusted to day and night (feeding during the day and not at night)

I started feeding my 1st born food @ 2mos and he got soo constipated :( I quit and pushed it back to 4-6 mos...There is a formula for hungry babies? you could try that??? But yeah, so after that experience I won't even consider it w/#2 until atleast 4mos!

My doctor said the same thing.....don't start cereal feeding until they are at least 4 months old. I started my little one on rice cereal at about 5 weeks of age. I tried giving it to him first in a bottle (1tsp/2oz formula) but he didn't like drinking it. I now spoon feed it to him. He absolutely loves it. I have been giving it to him in the morning and also at night with no problems. Everyone has an opinion regarding this...I think you have to do whatever you think is best for you.
