I am in need of assistance in this matter. I am going to be 38 in two weeks and a mother of two, therefore we definitely do not want to have anymore children but i do not do well with birth control pills and was wondering what suggestions there are out there as far as options. I was going to get my tubes tied but per my gynecologist, there are no guarantees that you won't become pregnant and i guess it is rare that it does happen.

If i can find a birth control pill that actually does not have that many side effects then i don't mind at all, but the ones i have taken just didn't work for me. My husband and I were also thinking of him getting operated but again not sure yet what we will do but we definitely need to do something.

I have heard of Mirena but now that you mention paragard i'm going to discuss it with my obgyn because again pills don't cut it with me and if it is something lasting for 10 years or so then it's worth it. Thank you so much for the recommendations...at this point i am willing to try anything.

I haven't seen it but i'll pay close attention next time, if it is irreversible wow i'm for it. Thanks ...

Have you considered an IUD? I have Mirena and love it but there's also one called ParaGard that's also an IUD but doesn't use any hormones which some women complain of with Mirena. Despite loving my Mirena, I think I'll be trying ParaGard when I get another IUD after our next child because it doesn't release any hormones into your body. You don't have to do anything but have it inserted and it's good for 10 years. Here's the website for it: http://www.paragard.com/ Good luck finding something that works for you!

There is a commercial I am seeing about a permanent birth control option. I can't remember it's name but it has a mom with two kids on the soccer field. It says that the ob can do it quickly and it is irreversible.
