I just wanted to know if anyone knows what the age recommendations are when it comes to feeding your baby eggs...my friend has been feeding her little boy eggs since he was 6 months old but i didn't know if he was too young or not. He hasn't had any reactions to the eggs.
So do you think it will be ok to give me lil girl eggs or should i wait till she's 1?

my daughter loves scrambled eggs.... shes been eating them since she was 9months.... thats when her ped said we could give them to her.... and she will be a year old in 12 days

my dr told me at his 9 month check up to start giving them (yolk and whites) as they need to have them before they get their one year shots (there is egg in the vaccine)

i live in holland and when i asked my dughters doctor about eggs she said that after 9mnths should be fine (if there is no history of alergies in the family) and even from a younger age egg yolks should be fine. my daughter is 11mo and wont eat anything off a spoon lol. she has only been eating eggs for a month and not daily, but loves them!
but so true what an earlier comment said, you know your baby and shouldnt feel like your doing something wrong cos your going against someone elses advice :)

hell no...some babies are fine with that sort of thing...i have never done this befor my child was one but a friend of mine gave her baby just a tiny taste of scrambled eggs at 11 months and she swelled up like a baloon....probably wait just in case :)

I have been giving my 11 month old scrambled eggs for a couple of months now. US doctors are not allowed to give the ok for egg whites until 1 yr but in Europe they start much younger and their allergy % are alot less then ours.

I also gave my daughter eggs and other table as she won't eat the meal jars. We tried graduates meals and she only wants what we eat. No allergies yet! Still not doing nuts or honey tho. You do what you feel is okay for your child not what others say. You know your child!

You could give scrambled egg yolk but it is recommended to wait until 1 year for the whites.

@ Alecia, I know what you mean. My son is at the point where he doesn't even want to be fed; if he can't feed it to himself, he doesn't want it! :) It's funny how they are. My son is mostly on table food because I was spending twice as much time feeding him the other way, and it just wasn't worth it to me. Plus, my son is "big", and I didn't think he needed to be eating all of that.

hi alecia, i read a bit down the page that if your daughter had more than 2 teeth youd give her table food.. in otherwise im gathering it means everything that you eat. my son is 12 months old in a week and is only just getting his first tooth; its not completely up yet and i give him everything that we eat for dinner. he manages great! :)

I have been giving my little girl eggs in the morning for breakfast if i was you i would give her eggs but if you would rather wait until she is 1 then that would be fine but what i do with my 11 month old little girl is mash them up and then put them in front of her and let her pick them up and let her feed herself

@ Amanda she has tried just about everything we eat, but not usually as an entire meal. she still eats quite a bit of baby food. she did just have her first spaghetti dinner the other night and she LOVED it. lol. im starting to slowly transition her to all table food because even if i feed her first, she still wants what i have! lol

@ Alecia- my son is 10 months, and he is just getting his second tooth, but that hasn't stopped us from letting him try pretty much everything we are eating. I don't know if it's right or wrong, but he does a really nice job of "gumming" everything.

When I took my son to the doctor for his ninth month visit, we asked the doctor what we could and could not give our son, and she said no nuts or honey. We asked about eggs, and she said as long as no one in the family has an egg allergy, he should be fine. And, he is! Obviously, you need to do what you feel is right for your daughter, but it's a great finger food that is not all that messy! My son loves them, and I love feeding him eggs.

we decided to take the chance 2-3 weeks ago with eggs and our 11mo... no reaction, she loves them. There is no history of egg allergies in either family or I would have waited myself.

my daughter is 11 mnths and LOVES eggs! actually she loves food (healthy). if she had more than 2 teeth i would feed her mostly table food. i say try it and if ur baby doesnt like it, then no big deal

yes they have to be hard boiled......however eggs are highly alergenic, and you don't want to give your baby an alergic reaction. My suggestion is if you want to introduce the egg, simply prepare one, rub it on her thigh or butt cheek, and wait few hours to see if she has an alergic reaction, if she does not, it is most likely safe to give it to her.
It is not hard to experiment with children, and give them everything, but lets not forget, that their bodies are smaller and not used to what we put in our bodies.
Jade, I think you would make a smart decision to wait till your baby is 1. Always BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY :)

In the UK we are advised that they can have eggs from 6 months, as long as they are cooked.

My little girl will be 11 months on the 26th and shes been getting eggs for a while now. She loves them and has not had any bad reaction to them. I say go ahead!

oh ok...well i might just wait till she's 1 anyway im too scared to give her eggs...no 1 in my family has any alergies to eggs but im just a bit funny with anything like eggs, pea nuts and all that... Thanks for your advice :-)

You can give egg yolk from a hard boiled at 8 months, however it is recomended you do not give babies egg whites until they turn 1
