Circusmsion revision surgery??? Help!!!

My first son was not circumcised at birth--and got an infection when he was about 3 1/2. he hd to be put under and have a circumcision done--it was kind of rough for ahwile afterwards--but we both got through it with a few tricks. it hurt to pee, so he was holding it until he wet his pants. he came out of surgery with his underwear on backwards for more space--and he wore them that way until i bought him new ones, told him they were "big boy" underwear and had to be worn the right way--it worked. he wouldn't sit down in the tub for a long time--even when it was healed. we bought him some bubble bath and told him it was a'magic water" and would not make him hurt---that trick worked, too. he wasn't under for very long for that surgery.



My youngest daughter, who is now 8 1/2 years old, had to have a fundoplication shortly before she turned 10 months old. she had to be put under anesthesia for 3 1/2 hours and she did fine.

My son was 8 months old when he had his revision done. It was scary to put him under but it always will be..no matter the age. He was a very heavy baby and the skin reattached itself. It was a choice between having the surgery or letting it rip when he got older. The surgery was quick and within 2 hours he was up and bouncing around. I don't think it bothered him in the least. He is 17 years old now and has had no issues with anything in that area:)

My oldest son had to have his circumcision redone at 3 years. He was a preemie when he had the first one done. He would urinate to the right and the skin was pulling on one side. He did really good and I was shocked at how much skin they removed and I am so glad we did it. I don't know what kind of problems he would have had if we didn't do it. Good luck

though I have no advice on the circumcision revision, I do have experience with my son going under anesthesia. My son was born with craniosynostosis....which means that he didnt have an ysoft spots on his skull. When he was 4 months old he had to go under anesthesia to repair his skull. He did just fine with it. Babies are very resiliant. As long as you have it done at a childrens hospital with an experienced pediatric anesthesiologist your little man should be just fine!!

i agree...i heard about them making it too tight and how it can hurt them when they get older... its a very hard decision to make.. i hope i make the correct one.

We had to go to Boston Children's Hospital to see a urologist to see if he needed his circumcission re-done but he said it looks like the fat behind the penis area is just pushing the skin forward. He told me to keep pushing the skin back but to me it's not really working. It looks as though the skin has re-attached. We have an appointment next year to see if it has gotten better on it's own. Otherwise, he'll need it re-done. He just worrying about taking too much skin off. I just worry about his manly confidence later in life, that's a huge thing.
