My little girl Reagan was born 9/27/09, she was healthy and happy. In October she got stuffed up and congested, the doctor said it was just a cold and it went away in about 10 days. In November the same thing happened she got a cold according to the doctor and it went away in about two weeks. A week before Christmas she got sick again, but this time she had green mucus coming out of her nose, so I took her to the doctor again, this time they said it was a sinus infection, you nasal drops, and a vaporizer she should get better in a week. The next week I noticed she wasn't better and her congestion wasn't better ( the green mucus was gone however) so I took her back to the doctor this time I was told she had a upper respiratory infection but she was too little for antibiotics to give it a week and she should get better. The third week she stopped taking her bottles, was very lethargic, and still congested so back to the doctor we went, this time she had an ear infection,and the doctor thought the congestion might be due to the original sinus infection that might not have gone away so finally she was put on antibiotics. After a week of antibiotics her ear infection was gone but not the congestion. So after over a month of congestion the doctor ordered a chest x-ray, it showed some inflammation but her lungs were clear, and looked good. so we made now weekly visit to the doctor so she could listen to her lungs and check her out and maybe come up with an answer to my little girls congestion. It not any sickness because the antibiotics would of took care of it. Her options were acid reflux, and asthma. She doesn't think it is acid reflux because she doesn't spit up alot, and it would of started sooner. She thinks it might be asthma, but a very acute touch of it, but she wants to wait another week, and send us to a specialist before doing anything farther to get a second opinion . I was just wondering if anyone had anything similar with their baby, or any advice. It just really frustrating knowing your baby doesn't feel good, and not knowing what is wrong and not being able to do anything for her.

I went through this with my son which will be 4 months old on the 30th!! At first they thought it was an infection and put us on antibiotics and well they didn't work. We went through chest x-rays and all that too. Then the dr. put him on zantac for acd reflux and it was like all the congestion cleared up instantly! Brock didn't spit up that much but occasionally he would spit up a lot. He also had a bad cough along with the congestion, but now that we are on the maximum dose of Zantac twice a day nothing he is perfectly fine!!

Well thanx for they advice we are using a humidifier, she is going to see an ear nose and throat doctor, because the ped. thinks it could possibly be a sinus problem, and then she is scheduled to see the allergist/ asthma doctor. Besides the congestion she is a happy baby and very playful. She has a crying fit once a day usually after her afternoon nap that last for an hour that no one can explain why, and and at night when she sleeping and has rapid breathing that I'm so afraid she is going to stop breathing. I'm just worried that they are not going to be able to figure it out. I'll keep everyone posted .

that is almost exactly what happened with my lil one and about the same time frame too. Excet they diagnosed him with bronciolitis. and it was awful. I had to take him to urgent care 2 times. They gave him albutorol the 1st time and the 2nd they told me to stop that and use the warm mist humidifier from TARGET...It helped. He is better after more than a month of sickness. Its awful when they are hurting. and u cant do anything...

I know you feel my son was born on 9-25-09 and he has been the same way until recently when the doc said he had reflux and put him on zantac and it has helped but my son had an ear infection when he was about a month and a half and they put him on an antibiotic so i don't understand why your doc said your child was too young for an antibiotic.

my son was born 9-14-19 and he has been having a lot of bronchial infections... i fear it isnt asthma. we had to take him to the hospital last night and they gave him some steroids. but it sounds a like your lil ones problems. and i feel your frustration as well mamaz. I hope everything is ok with your lil one

yes my little one was born 9-22-09 and when he was 6wks old he got a runny nose,cong,and cough. the dr kept saying it was just a cold to do saline mist,bulb,humidifier. which we did but he was still no better, took him back several times and they kept saying it was just a cold. Finally his cong got pretty bad so i took him on a monday and they said it was asthma & we statrted breathing treatments every 4hrs. this never helped and by thursday when he woke up he was having trouble breathing and grunting. took him to the dr and they rushed us to texas childrens hospital and he was placed on a vent for 7days and in the hosp for 14. He was diagnosed with RSV,bronchiloitis,pnumonia! i think you are doing the right thing to keep bringing him weekly. just keep a close eye on him b/c they say the rsv just happens so fast. i hope this helps.
