constant spit up

My son is 6 months old born 9-22 and i have had the worst problem with him spitting up.. i had to switch from breastfeeding to bottle feeding due to medical reasons and i started with regular formula and it was bad then i tried specialty formula to no avail... finally i have him on soy formula (at which i am not thrilled about) and he still spits up more than my liking but its eased by about half... now his doctor (who i find to be a complete moron, i'm trying to switch doctors right now!) says there really isn't anything wrong with him but prescribed some prescription only gas medicine and its taken a little edge off but he still spits up... does anybody have any idea or know of anything that can help???? honestly i am at my wits end with this... and my poor baby, i'm afraid he is losing a lot of vitamins and nutrients!!

thanks erin i will try that... but like i said i'm not very impressed with the doctor in the first place for other reasons but i do appreciate your help!

My 1st born spit up like CRAZY!!! I quit doing my husband's laundry on accounts of the umptine loads I was doing of mine & our son's clothes and I didn't need the added work!!! A nice 4 yrs it's been :) Anyways...he was bottle fed breast milk so I really don't know about the formulas...BUT my 2nd born, who is also bottle fed BM, doesn't have that problem and I would like to attribute it to using the Dr. Browns bottles. Sooo some things that you can do to help ease gas w/babe & formula would be to stir his formula w/a spoon instead of shaking it in the bottle (creates less bubbles) & switch to the Dr. Browns bottles I know MANY moms that swear by them!!! Now what my Dr. told me w/my bub & his constant spit up was that if you pour out some milk/liquid you'll see that it looks like a lot more then it actually is! So maybe you can try that and it will ease your mind some, and the other thing was that if your babe is still gaining weight then it really isn't anything to worry about, which is likely why your dr. negates it (and trust me I KNOW how annoying it is when a dr. negates your issues!!!)
