i was tought an awsome trick by a very experince mother, lay your baby on his/her back, then take babys feet and cross 1 ankle over the other, then hold the anklles and slowly roll the legs/toes up to babys face(as far as is comfortable), then slowly unroll baby strait and slowly do it all over again. with my son, i get a couple of realy good farts in about 3 revolutions, and he thinks its fun and laughs with me while we are doing it. from what i was told is it helps move the lower bubbles that are uncomfortable and also helps move stuborn poop.

Make sure it has been more then 4 days. My doctor told us to use HALF a infants glyceren suppository. They work great and turn into oil as they slide in, do it slowly. My daughter showed no signs of discomfort from them. Do not make it a regular thing however or it could weaken her bowels.

thank u all for your comments,my lil girl is ok now making up for the days she was constipated lol,if she gts constipated in the future then i will have alot of options to try thank you,i will also ask the health visitor if it is better to put her on number 2 (milk) now thanx rikki =)

It could be too much rice cereal. It tends to block um up. Best thing to do is just give her formula only til she goes, its ok though. They only poop once or twice a day at five months. My son sometimes skips a day, but he always makes up for it. :)

well u could put some karo syrup in her bottle with her milk and a little bit of prune juice it help with my son

BTW I did kyro syrup too and it DOESNT work! Pear juice is the only one that works

Well I use an old country remedy my family uses.. When my little boy gets constipated I simply rub his back area right above his bottom... I ask his doctor about and she told me I was smart to do so because a baby's intestines is very easy to tighten because their not developed yet. So I rub his back for at least 5 minutes or so before he's actually makes a bowel movement.

I am having the same problem with my LO, I'm going to try the gerber Apple-Prune juice today to see if it helps any. I have been having to give her glycerin suppositories every 6 days so she could go (side note: they do not dissolve away, freaked me out when she finally went and had little white pellets in her diaper). I even switched to Oatmeal instead of rice cereal, and only give it to her once a week (very runny), she is breastfeeding 5x a day. I don't know what else to do.

My doctor told us we could give her 2-4 oz of Gerber apple-prune juice a day. It has really helped. We normally only give her the 2 oz and we mixed it right into her formula bottle.

My daughter has the same problem, not quite constipation, but she doesn't poop often and it is thick and difficult for her to pass. My pediatrician had me giving her 1 tbsp. Karo syrup in 4 oz of water a day. Now that she is taking some solids, I give her just 4 oz of water a day to keep things moving, sometimes I add an ounce of baby apple juice to it. She also said to stay away from banana and rice cereal until things are moving along. The pureed prunes also worked well.

my baby had the same problem. her doctor told me to give her a glyceren suppository. you can find them at walgreens. They look like wax pellets.Make sure that the container says for infants and children!!!

coloxal drops, prune juice, pear juice or anal stimulation. if it gets really bad and dosent pass stool for days you can take bub to hospital and request a surpositry up her bottom. but my daughter had constipation for nearly 5 days without passing any stool at all and i used coloxal drops and within a day she was perfect again :)

apple juice! too much of it can make bowels runny, so try it to reverse your baby's constipation.

We had the same problem, out little guy would get so uncomfortable and fussy. I just put a bit of Karo syrup in his bottle and it worked really well. Good Luck!

Hi,you don't n eed to give your child anything,i think its normal coz when my baby was 3months he was constipated.But if u mind try some water or massage his bowel with vasline but never insert it into his bowel.

You can also put a few drops,about 5 drops, of olive oil in her milk. Just once a day. It really works nicely.

you can always try coloxal drops but id look into the formula (if bubby is formula fed) u are using first it may not be agreeing with her anymore....we had the same problem and swaped our son to NAN HA gold (not just regular nan) fixed the issue in about a day or 2 and he has neva had any problems since but im not sure you can get it depending where u live in the world....if you are breast feeding id ask your gp if anything you are eating could be causing the problem you may be supprized on some of the tings you eat that will cause issues with bub :) good luck

thank you,i tried givin her the water and it helped im not sure why it happens,i put baby oil by the entrance of her bum to help ease the pain

first. if it is a hard stool (not just thick) and she has a difficult time passing it then it is constipation. Not going for a few days is not considered constipation... don't know exactly what the problem is...

first you can try anal stimulation (lube up a thermometer and gently place in rectum and wiggle around (you can look up exactly how to do this online)

if that doesn't work...

(if only on fluids - not eating solids) give mixture of 1 oz water 1 oz real prune juice (no sugar...) once a day

(if on solids) still try the prune juice but you can also feed applesauce

Call your pedi if LO doesn't pass stool after 3-4 days.
