my son was born 9/19/09 and ever since he was 7 weeks he started to sleep through the nite(i know lucky) however since he is more alert and awake he still requires 3 naps a day, one after every meal and then shortly after he has his bed time bottle he is ready for bed again. My husband is now off for the summer with our little one as i have returned to work and we r trying to change his schedule to get him ready for either a sitter or daycare. Some days we can manage to get rid of a nap however other days r really bad and he NEEDS the nap. any advice for trying to change the schedule??? please keep in mind this is our first child so its still a lil new to us
Thanks for the advice u may give, it will be greatly appreciated

My daughter sleeps 5:30pm-7am, then 9am-10am, 1-3pm. We have had her checked at the pediatrician who referred her to a neurologist and after alot of tests they told us "some babies just sleep alot consider your selfs lucky" We're ofcourse still worried lol

My daughter was born 9/22/09 and sleeps through the night usually for aboout 12 hours. I put her down for a morning nap around 9-9:30am for between 1-2 hours and she will go for another nap around 1-1:30pm for between 1-2 hours. I also have a 4 year old so we are on the go quite a bit so the days I am out in the afternoon the baby will sleep in the car.

My daughter doesnt sleep through the night with out waking, but she is ready for bed around 6:30 and though she wakes up 3x at night she is never awake for more than a couple of minutes. She gets up around 6:30-7, had breakfast and is ready for a nap again around 7:45. After that she takes 45min- 1hr naps every 2 hours, so she usually ends up with 4 naps a day, sometimes 5. Ive tried to cut out one nap but those days are horrible, she is so exhausted and cranky. Im going to talk to her pediatrician about it next week.

My son also sleeps all night since about 10 weeks. usually 10-12 hours. he then takes a short 45 min - 1 hour nap around 9 or 10 am, then a noon nap of 2-4 hours around 12 or 1. He just made his own schedule, I didn't encourage anything! I think babies if you let them will do whatever is best for them. A sitter will probably appreciate the downtimes, and your baby is probably just fine. Daycare for infants should also accommodate the napping schedule! I just believe babies know whats best!
