my son was born on 9/25 and i bled for about 3 weeks after having him then i did not get my period until he was 2 months old and i haven't started this month yet

It just depends on your body. I'm exclusively breastfeeding my son who was born 9/18. I got my period back last week :(

I have friends who didn't get theirs back for anywhere from 6 to 9 months.

It's true that you're more than likely NOT to get pregnant, but that's not always the case.

Same here. My daughter was born on 25th Sept and 'til now I still havent get my mens. It really creep me out but I hope it didnt harm my body systems. What I need to know is, how long does it takes to get back my mens.

I started mine after 2 months. I have always heard that you CAN get pregnant again right away even if you haven't started your period back yet.

I had my baby girl on September 5th as well, I still have not got my period. I am breast-feeding, it is nice to see all of these posts saying I may not get them until I stop :-) A very good reason to not stop breast-feeding!!!!!

My son is 15 weeks old and I am breastfeeding. I just got my period a few days ago for the first time because I dropped his night feedings. It's completely normal not to get your period it could take up to 22 weeks! Enjoy it while you can, but be careful because you can ovulate at any time.

I am not breastfeeding so I will give my input too since most the moms are breastfeeding just in case you are not which I hope you are or at least tried. I didnt get my period until my son was 6 wks, then again when he was 8 wks then again at 10wks. He is now 12 wks and I havent started this time so hopefully my 2 week cycles are done b/c that gets old. On another note my SIL found out she was preggers with her second at her 6wk postpartum check up and she was EBF so be careful.

It took me about a month to get mine after I had my daughter and it lasted 4 days. However, it was very heavy. And mine have been right on track since.

With my first son, I did not get my period again until he was 9 months old. I was breastfeeding, and this is completely normal. Some women don't get it for a full year. This time, I have not gotten it yet, and my son is now almost 15 weeks. Although I am going to take a pregnancy test, because I've had some other symptoms of pregnancy. I'll have a heart attack if I am pg, these 2 are only 18 months apart already!
You will ovulate before you get your first period, so unless you are okay with getting pregnant again, use protection. Our second happened because after my first post-partum period, I did not get one the next month, so thought I hadn't ovulated either, but, turns out, I did! I didn't think anything of it when I didn't get a period again the following month and didn't suspect I was pregnant until I started getting nauseous at 6 weeks pg.

my son is 3 months old and I still have NOT gotten my cycle but my dr told me it is because I am breastfeeding. I was told the longer you breastfeed the longer it takes for you first cycle after baby comes

I stopped breastfeeding a month ago and I still have not gotten mine. I did have some spotting but not the real deal. With my 1st son 20months I hadnt gotten it after 9 months but I breastfed longer. A serious warning though, you can get pregnant while breastfeeding and without getting your period. I did and now I have two under the age of two at home. And that is definatly a handful.

i had Konner 10 weeks ago and still haven't gotten mine but i am breast feeding, so you can sometimes not get it at all when nursing. i'm in no rush to get mine again yet. if you are too concerned then just talk to your doctor about it

I breast fed all of my kiddos each time I did not get a period until about a month after I stopped breast feeding but talk to you doc.

Congrats that is a great day it's my b-day too. My son was born on September 3rd. I bled for awhile but then did not get my period. My doctor said that I probably won't get one since I am breastfeeding . Are you breastfeeding? Have you been to the doctor?

I got mine when my daughter was 9 wks but I got on "yaz" when she was 5 wks so thats prob why mines pretty regular and started early. My OB said Im most likely to get pregnant right after my baby was born up until shes 6 months, your the most fertil then. I believe it cause when my 2nd son was 3 1/2 months I got pregnant with my 3rd son and they are barley 13 months apart.....Be careful! Get on birth control

I havnt had my AF yet, my son is 3 months in a few days. Im exclusively breastfeeding him, as I did my daughter and with her I didnt get my AF until she was 6 months, then bing badda boom, I fell pregnant with my little man born 15 months apart.

I had my daughter on September 3rd and got my period 2 1/2 weeks ago. I had it for 4 days, it went away. I started my pill and 2 weeks later I got my aunt flow sorta again. One minute shes there and the next shes gone. It's been like this for a week now. So don't be too anxious about getting it!

Are you nursing? I believe if your nursing it will take longer to return.

My DD was born 9/1 and I have yet to get mine. I'm exclusively BF'ing and had a tubal ligation so I'm not worried :)

I know everyone is different. I havent had a period yet after 11 weeks I had my daugher 9-19-09, am breastfeeding, and had the Depo shot so one or both of those could be why. Although I noticed this week a very very light pinkish discharge. I guess that is considered spotting...

My cousin went a whole year, but she exclusively breastfed that whole time. My sister's took a few months. Mine came at three weeks and stopped the post-labor bleeding, and has come twice on time since then, but lighter and shorter. My whole family, including myself, breastfeed.

um... I got mine like a long time after I gave birth but I also bled for like a month in a half after I gave birth to.. And when I did start my period I was on it for 3 weeks. Hope yours goes better. Use condoms

My elder son was born in June 2007; I nursed him and I did not have a period until November 2008. My younger son was born on September 15th and I have yet to have a period.

I have a couple of friends who were not having periods after the birth of a child, only to find out that it was because they were pregnant again! I would advise using birth control if you don't want any unplanned blessings...

Are you breastfeeding? Breastfeeding mothers typically don't get a period until they stop. They still ovulate, however, and are as fertile as can be. I am exclusively breastfeeding, and have had two periods since my son was born on 9.1 - my midwife is shocked. They were light, and there was no cramping. Everyone is different. Whether you are breastfeeding or not, you need to be using birth control! You can get pregnant!

hey, i feel better to hear everyone's postings. I havent gotten mine yet, and I had my son sept. 4th. I just took a pregnancy test because i was so worried, negative which we were glad, lol. But this is the longest i have gone without. I did start a new birth control, thats what my doctor thinks it is.

I had my little girl on Sept 22nd and haven't had a period yet, but I am exclusively breast feeding so it could take months before it returns. (That's fine by me!)
It's true that you can get pregnant before that first period though because your body will ovulate, the egg will be fertilized and you're preggers without ever getting your period.

My best friend exclusively breast fed both her daughters.... she didn't get her period for 8 months after the first one, but was also on the pill and still got pregnant with the second. She then went 6 months before her period returned after the second birth.

My son was born 23rd sept, and I got my period back when he was 8 weeks old! My friend who was breast feeding didn't get hers back for a whole year, so I guess it really varies.

I had my second child on Sept 25th and still haven't gotten mine either. With my first child, I breast fed exclusively and didn't get my period until he was 6 months old. Actually, it was a few days after he started rice cereal. I think when you introduce solids and start to nurse less often, your hormones kick back in gear. At least, that's what happened to me. Hope that helps.

I had my son on September 5th too! and I didnt have a period till like 2weeks ago not sure if I would have gone longer if I didnt get the mirena put in but I think its normal...Are you breastfeeding? I hear you dont have a period till youve stopped breastfeeding..I wouldnt take the chance of believing you wont get pregnant if you havent had your period especially if your not ready for another one..Hope Ive helped in some way! :)

Hi. My daughter was born the 19th of sept and i just got mine, UGH! And it it MUCH heavier then normal. I get the IUD next week so i have a feeling I will be bleeding for awhile!

Everyone is different, so don't worry. I'm breastfeeding and I still haven't had my first period (after 10 weeks). I'm not anxious for it to return! :)

Hi, I am completely breastfeeding, and after having my second child on Sept 27th, I had my period 5 weeks after her birth, and on looking back , I believe it was around the same time for my first born. Everybody is different so I wouldn't worry too much but I would be sure to use contraception, as you probably may be fertile still, that is what my Dr says anyway. Hope that helps

I had mine when my daughter turned a month...and it was completely normal. I was bottle feeding though. If your breast feeding then it can take a while to come back. But it's normal for it to take a while

Had my 3rd baby boy on the 15th and haven't had a period yet. I am Bfeeding so that might have something to do with it. The hormones are driving me nuts tho, I look like a 13 yr old going thru puberty with all of these zits!! UGH!! lol

I got mine 5 weeks in but I had cut down on breastfeeding. Everyone is different so check with your GP. I have had friends that got theirs 8 monhs later.

i had my son on the 29th and got my first period a week ago and its still going. i got the iud implant so that may be why. i think its just different for everyone. i was told that if your bfing then you dont get periods but i am and i still got mine..hope all is well though

I got mine about 6 weeks after giving birth. it was a bit heavier then normal but it lasted the same amount of time as it did before I gave birth.

Hey there I had my youngest on the 8th of Sept and I just got my period almost a week ago this coming Sunday. I was told by the drs. not to worry about it to much.

Hi everyone is different, i had mine after 6weeks and it was awful haha!! I wouldnt panic to much, even when you start, it can last for over a month. Mine lasted for nearly two weeks It can be very light then gradually get heavy(which mine did), or you will suddenly start, so if i was you i would be prepared if your out and about:-]

I just got mine last week (week 9) but it's been ridiculously heavy and has continued on for 11 days so far...ugh! It used to only be about 5/6 days so hopefully this is a one time deal.

My son is almost 10 weeks and I still haven't had my period (and I really am in no rush for it to reurn!!) My midwife said this is perfectly normal, it can take a few months with all the hormones flying round the body. I also thought the first couple of months you are more likely to fall pregnant, so be careful!

Hi, had the same questions for my GP , it would appear that in some cases if you breast feed, your period can be delayed for some time, however you'll still ovulate. best to checkwith your GP .
