Hi there. I was wondering if other people are having an issue with a large amount of hair loss. I know that we lose the extra hair we grew while we were pregnant, but I seem to now have a couple of bald spots... I was taking all my vitamins, but have stopped. I think, possibly, I need to start taking them again.

I still take my vitamins because I'm nursing; but I don't think it makes a difference. I'm losing so much hair that I have to sweep up my bathroom floors every day and after I brush my hair I have a handful of hair to throw away. I would be worried, however, this happened with my first baby as well so I was prepared. It's quite normal, but I don't remember it ending any time soon.

It's amazing isn't it, I can't believe how much hair comes out when I wash it. But if you are worried then you should consult your doctor. I probably would if I was getting bald spots.

Oh my gosh! I don't know how I have any hair left! I swear it comes out by the handful. I think its normal Francine. I never stopped taking a prenatal, since I'm nursing, and I don't think that its helped at all. lol Who knows, maybe we'll all be bald together!

I think we are all in the same spot right now. I'm also a hair stylist & it's normal to lose 100 pieces a day. I know I'm losing 2x's that right now. I say it's natures cruel joke on us.

I'm glad to know that I'm not alone! At first I thought someone had given me the evil eye. Right after I gave birth, my hair got so much thicker, fuller & longer but about a month ago it all started falling out & I got so scared. Everyone tells me it's normal & not to worry but I hate the trail I leave all over my house... My solution has been to go the hair salon on a weekly basis and have my stylist treat it with conditioners & cut it so it doesn't weigh as much... Just the ends. As far as the thining up front, I got bangs! No one can tell that I'm losing my hair, just looks like I went for a different look! Hope this helps!

I started losing a ton of hair about a month ago, but I'm still taking my vitamins! I have a habit of running my fingers through my hair while I'm breastfeeding during the night, and by morning, there's a small pile on the floor that I have to clean up - yuck!

Same with me! I am losing tons of hair every day. I can run my fingers through my hair and pull out clumps of hair every time. I hate it and can't wait until it stops!! My husband hates the fact that our bath tub is always getting clogged up because of it. :(

I have been having the same problem. Im afraid to brush my hair cause im losig so much. I've had people tell me how thin it is after getting and my daughter is just five months old.. You can notice on my temples how thin it is. When I have to brush my hair I cry, I can't believe how bad it is, this never happened on my first daughter. Will it go back the way it was?

I have a huge amount of hairloss and I was wondering the same thing. I talked to my mother and she said it was just part of your body changing and experiencing changes.

Yes, I am losing so much hair!! It drives me crazy! And I can't afford to lose anymore hair, cuz my hair is already very thin & fine. I notice it mainly in the shower & when I comb it when it's wet. My husband was freaked out by my comb the other day when he saw all the hair in it lol. Glad to know I'm not alone!

LOL ...HaHaHa ... When I first read your blog and replied to it, I thought you were referring to the baby's hair loss. Now in reading some other mother's replies, I see that you were referring to your own hair loss. Oops. Sorry for the misunderstanding ... But, I've been dealing with the same hair loss myself and have read several articles of this being normal after having a baby, since we gained so much thick hair during the pregnancy and now we are losing a lot of it after pregnancy/after nursing. I think it has to do with our hormones, but I'm not sure. I'd check with a local pregnancy expert. :-)

I don't think you are alone.... My 5 month old son has several bald spots, but I don't think it is anything to worry about. When I pass through his thin hair, globs of it come out...but, I'm confident a full head of hear will come out afterwards just like it did with my other two boys. I don't know if the vitamins will help or not. I've been taking Flinstones vitamins but the extra hair still keeps falling out easily. I now stopped nursing (as my milk has dried up) and the hair loss continues. I hope this helps put your mind at ease a bit. I'm glad others share in this baby hair loss journey with me, though. I'm not alone. I actually place a blanket for him to lay on in his crib so that all that extra hair gets on the fuzzy blanket instead of on the crib sheet. He moves his head from side to side so much while he sleeps at night-time. It's fun to watch him. :-)

Always good to know that you are not the only one having an issue. :-) I have really thick hair and I am still getting bald spots at my temples. I will just have to keep my fingers crossed :-)

I hope so, I'm going through the same thing and went to my doctor, but she wasn't able to tell me anything to help me out.

I am also having this issue. I have read a lot on the topic and from what I have read it does not have to do with vitamins. Your hair should be back to ur pre-pregnancy thickness by the time your baby is one year old. I'm just trying to stick it out until then. Good luck!!

The hair loss your experiencing is the same thing i am dealing with myself right now! I am a licensed hair stylist. This hair loss is actually a condition called postpartum alopecia. It affects lots of women after having a baby. It is just a hormone inbalance. The prenatal vitamins will not do anything. It is just a regulation that your body has to normally go through. To both of our dismay this can last up to the first year after birth. There really is nothing you can do about it....Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! I'm in the same boat as you though! Hang in there! If you have a hair stylist you could always ask her ways to help style your hair to make it look more full. I work in an aveda hair salon and there is lots of products i could recommend! just write me on my page if i can help!
