How many of you got your doctor to deliver your baby?

My office worked "on call" so the chance of getting my doctor was about 25% being that there was 4 doctors. Luckily I was induced and could pick the day my doctor was at the hospital. How many offices run by calling your doctor when you're in labor and your doctor rushes to the hospital? Just curious.

i live in florida and i and had my daughter on a navy base. well i was the only woman going into labor that day so lucky me i had every person there who workds on the delivery floor. my doctor was not there but when i got there i had a different doctor who i had seen before and about an hour before i gave birth it was shift change so i had a doctor i had never even met. on top of all the nurses and poeple going thru school to be doctors. the last time i remember counting i had 13 people in my delivery room. there were some litterally setting in chairs and on stools watching. as i laid in the bed trying ot push i had 1 nurse and 2 people going thru training setting right infront of me watching me push her out. it was so weird feeling.

I live in Massachusetts and most hospitals around here work this way. I just wanted to know if it's like that around other places.

I'm not sure where you live, but in Australia mostly if you chose a Private OB then he/she will be at your birth raiin hail or shine - of course depending on traffic and timing of course). That's what you pay for. I was in labour for 32 hours so he had plenty of time to make it into the hospital and was even making calls from home to check what was going on. Also he had at least 10 patients admitted at the hospital i delivered at so he could do his hospital visits between checks on me - or at least my baby.

I went to a different hospital than what my doctor worked at so I had the on call midwife deliver but she was awesome!

My doctor was called in, it was his weekend off and he said that if anything happenend to call and he would be there. He showed up about and hour after we had arrived. He lives an hour away so that was all good. However when it came to the actual delivery, it was him or another doctor seeing as I had to have an emergency c-section. He was in the operating room and hung around to make sure I was ok after I woke up. :)

i went into labor in the middle of the night and by the time i got to the hospital i had my baby 30minutes later so there wasn't enough time for my doctor to get there. so i had the on call doctor deliver him, but it was ok she was awesome!!!

It was the same for me. The doctor worked with 4 other doctors so there was a chance she wasn't going to be there to deliver my daughter. However when on my 38 week doctor appointment my water broke and I went right to the hospital and it just happened to be my doctors night on duty. I was really happy!!
