How many ounces of formula are your babies eating?

All babies are different. My son started refusing a bottle during the day when he was around 7 months old. He sees what mommy and daddy are eating and he wants that. I tried formula in a sippy and he refuses, he just wants water, or sometimes a bit of juice mixed with water. I gave him 10 oz of formula at night for a while trying to get as much as I could in him, since he was refusing during the day. I talked to my doctor though and he said because of his size it's okay for him to be eating more solid foods. He was 31 inches and 25 lbs at his 9 month check up. My ped said he's absolutely healthy. Do what you feel is right, and what your baby responds to. As long as you are feeding healthy foods throughout the day everything is good. Also, if you're worried your child will miss out on vitamins, get some Polyrisol vitamins, either the ones you can buy at a grocery or ask your doctor to prescribe them for you. Enfamil makes one called Poly-Vi-Sol, that is what I give my son.

My daughter was born on the 26th. I offer her 4 5oz bottles a day but she has been refusing to finish. She takes 12-16 oz a day with me pushing her to finish this amount. Also she eats 3 meals a day, rarely snacks (bottles are given in between meal times instead of snacks) She is using a sippy cup but barely, we are having issues there!

Henry was 10 months on theh 24th too. He still has 4 six ounce bottles a day. If he is going through a growth spurt, he wakes once in the night to have another six ounce.

Our pediatrician said that at this age he should still be taking 24 oz a day. He takes that and more as well as 3 meals a day and a snack.

My son was born on the 11th - and he has a bottle before bed an 9oz bottle. Other than that he eats regular meals and has sippy cups with milk and juice throughout the day :)

Matthew doesn't drink out of bottles at all and hasn't since 6 months. He drinks two 8oz cups of formula a day. All his meals and whatnot are solids which he sits in his high chair and feeds himself.

Bella is nursing about 7 times a day. I guesstimate it's about 8 ounces each time. She also has about 2 ounces of fruit, 2 ounces of veggies, and 2 ounces of grains each day. We're taking it very slow and introducing and feeding on her terms. Our family has allergies and Bella has shown very little so we are keeping it slow! :) It's working out very well and I'm hoping she will be able to have more things then her brother did much sooner! :)

I am feeding my son 4 of the 6oz bottles...he gets up n eats one, then around 10 eats ceral, then has fruit around 2 and a bottle w/ it, then around 6 eats another bottle and a jar of veggies then about 8pm he has milk and yogurt n goes to bed........I read that up until a year they need 24oz of formula or breastmilk..Im not sure but this worked for us..sometimes I do the formula in a sippy to help w/ weaning off the bottle.

WOW! By your picture she doesn't look that big. Well I would just listen to your doctor then. She's a cutie :) She's really tall too. I won't give my son juice either. I give him water as well. I only give him juice if he's constipated, and the prunes don't work. Plus my mom used to work in a ped's dentist office and she's seen the worst when parents give their kids juice all the time and let them go to bed with a bottle at bedtime. Madi had her 10 month check up and the dr actually said I should be feeding her more protein!!! She's already so big I don't know if I should be doing that!

Ashlea, my daughter is 31" long and 27.6lbs! :) That's why I only give her 12oz of formula a day. She eats three meals of baby food. Breakfast is scrambled egg whites w/ yogurt or oatmeal. Lunch is her baby food about 1.5 oz of meat and 4 oz of veggies and 2 oz of fruit. Dinner is the same thing. I do give her a sippy cup of water all through out the day. The only time she has a bottle is her two feedings. I don't give her juice because I would rather her want water instead.

My son is eating just breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He WILL NOT take formula anymore and he'll be turning 11 months next week. Can I ask why she's not having more than just 12oz/2 bottles a day? Do you not give her a sippy cup/bottle during her 3 feedings? Or will she not take them? Just wondered. I think I would not cut out the 5pm bottle. She really needs to stay on formula because that's where she's getting most of her calories from and the formula helps with her brain development as well. My son won't take formula anymore and he doesn't drink out of a bottle anymore. He's fully on sippy cup. I called the doctor and they told me to go ahead and give him whole milk since next month he'll be off of it anyway. Before my son decided he didn't want formula anymore he was getting 3-5oz. sippy cups a day, and no bedtime bottle.

my baby has an 8oz when he wakes up and a 7oz at bedtime and 3 solid meals and a snack morning and afternoon. my health visitor said he should be having a minimum of 18oz a day so to top this up in his solids eg, milk on his breakfast, yogurts and cheese.

my son was born sept 29th and has 2-6oz and 3-4 oz bottles a day. he also has baby food 3 times a day and table food like potatoes and peas and beens. i have also been told by his dr that they need atleast 16oz a day of formula or breastmilk to get the nutrients they need. i hope that you havent decided to cut her bottles for her sake..

My daughter (9/15/09) nurses 2 or 3 times per day. She eats meals with us and snacks in between. Her nursing sessions happen first thing in the morning and before bed. The occasional 3rd one is if she wakes up during the night or acts like she wants to nurse before naptime (after lunch).

My son (9/3/09) gets 5 bottles a day - anywhere from 4-8 oz each. He also eats 2-3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Plus a cup of juice/water mixture with his dinner.

They say that 9 and 10 month olds should be drinking 24 oz a day. Im not sure how much after that. I guess I should find out since Blake will be 11 months on the 26th of Aug! Lol

My baby boy had 3- 8oz. bottles a day also. Bottle 1: when he wakes up (8:00am/8:30am). Bottle 2: Before afternoon nap (1 or 2pm). Bottle 3: at Bedtime (8:30pm). He eats solid/baby food breakfast, lunch and dinner with a snack. He is healthy and in the right weight range too:)

My little man has 32 oz's of formula a day, with a jar of fruit in the morning an hour after his first bottle, then veggies in the afternoon after his second bottle, and another veggie or fruit at dinner time. He eats lot's of table food as well..

My son nurses when he wakes up. He has an 8 oz bottle of formula at daycare at 11am (usually only drinks 6 or so) and at 3pm (he drinks the whole 8). He nurses before bed and usually once in the middle of the night - sometimes twice. He eats three small meals a day and one snack. His meals are mainly fruits, veggies and whole grains with some dairy and/or protein like yogurt, tofu & eggs.



He is 11 months and 1 day old.

My little gal eats 3 square meals (feeding herself with hands) and sometimes an afternoon snack, and drinks about 24-27oz of formula a day.

I've heard before that some people advise to cut down the formula amount to 16oz or 24oz, and asked the doctor at the 9 month appointment. He said that she should be getting her main nutrients from formula until 1 year and she's not very big so not to restrict her on that.

my son only has one 7oz bottle a day now and hes one on 6th sept .He has cows milk on his breakfast and some to drink in a cup then lunch is solid and at 3ish a snack with water and at 5ish tea is solid then at 8 his bottle of formula and putting on weight and before he turns one am hoping to change the formula to cows milk too

Sarah has about 30 oz of breast milk spread throughout the day and assorted solid foods. She still mostly depends on my milk (which I pump for her) for her daily needs. She still doesn't have any teeth yet though so that slows her down just a little.

Isabelle has 3 6/7 Oz bottles a day but over the last week she is leaving most of her 4.30pm bottle and her 7.30 / 8pm bottle! She's eating really well though

My daughter gets 3 bottles a day of BM... she usually only drinks 4 oz each time maybe 5 to 5.5 on some days . She is not big on baby food never has but likes to eat big people food as long as it is soft and small pieces we let her

My fella only has 3 bottles a day, 1 when he gets up and then I give him weetabix an hour later, another around 1 and again a lunch an hour later, he has his dinner and juice and a bottle then before bed. If they are eating well then formula isn't the most important, they will get their nutrients in their food. If you are worried about Iron intake just check the whites of madisons eyes if they are white then its ok, if a bit yellow could need an iron supliment through a bottle.

my LO wont have a bottle at all during the day she has 9oz b4 bed & she loves that 1 i've tried during the dayz but i've watched her cut them out 1 at a time wen she just drank less n less of a bottle then wouldn't even take any so coz i spoke 2 my H.V she told me 2 put cows milk in her cereal n get as much milk in that way n plenty of F & V so 3 solid meals a day n snacks now n again & she very happy n gaining weight tho starting 2 get lots more active.

My son Jackson is 10 months old and he's eating right around 24 ounces of formula. Sometimes it's a little more and I'm sure there are sometimes that it's a little less. My doctor (well his doctor) told me to make sure he gets at least 24 ounces of formula a day and then at 11 months when I switch him to whole milk, he would need 24 ounces of that also. We're feeding him pretty much what we eat and I make sure he gets more fruits or veggies. The 24 ounces seem to be working pretty well for him!

Sammach enjoys 3-5 bottles a day. She has no desire to eat with her hands, and eating with a spoon must be closely supervised or else nothing would get in. So sometimes things are just to busy to bother with solids and a bottle has to do.

My little man only gets a 6 oz bottle a day, and that's hs bed time bottle, he refuses to take anymore, i've tried to give him formula in load of different ways and different cups but he just won't take it, i do sneak some into his breakfast cereal, and his pudding after dinner with rice and fruit. but he doesn't get a lot, but gets everything he needs as he will eat everything. As long as they are gaining weight i think that's all that matters, Aiden's 27lb now, and is well happy. x

Following replying to your post yesterday, i have been advise to drop the 3pm bottle and just give kai his one big feed at nite time, as he is gaining weight nicely and eating a very healthy and varied diet.

My daughter nurses on demand still, which is about 6 times a day. I will nurse her before feeding solids because solids should not be their main source of nutrition until the age of 1.

Our 10mo daughter gets 3 sometimes 4 bottles a day at 6oz each. Only time it's 4 is if we're out where its easier to give her a bottle than find something she can eat

I don't think it is a good idea to cut out either of her bottles at this point since she should be getting at least 16oz of formula or breast milk a day. My daughter has a bottle at breakfast, lunch, supper and bedtime which are about 4.5 oz each (she has never been one to drink a lot at each feeding). Her total formula intake is about 18oz a day unless she doesn't drink her entire bottle. My daughter also eats cereal at breakfast and bedtime and has meals for lunch and supper.

My son has 2 bottles a day, he has 7oz at 3pm (which i'll drop at 12 months) and at bedtime 7.30ish he has a minimum of 10oz and can take up to 17oz!!! Not sure where he puts it. He absoultely loves his food, has three meals a day, apart from his bedtime bottle really does not enjoy formula. I could easily drop the 7oz bottle and substitue it for a healthy snack. It may be me being a bit silly but i like to know he is getting the right amount of nutrients that the formula contains.

My son is drinking four 7oz bottles a day. One in the morning, another before nap around 10:30ish, one at 2:30-3pm, and his last one right before bed. He gets breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and sometimes a snack in between.

my daughter was born on sept 4. she usually has 3 bottles a day, about 6 ounces in each. her bedtime bottle at 7is i put cereal in and she seems to like this. once we stop formula and switch to milk she will only get 1 bottle at bedtime and the rest will be in a cup
