My daughter is 8 months (09/01/09) and only pooping once every two days. I am still breast feeding as well as feed Ava solid foods including lots of fruits, vegetables, cereals and yogourt. I even feed her prunes every morning! Any suggestions?

When my son was 3 months old he would only poop every 10 days even tho he was exclusively breastfed. He poops once or twice a day now that he has started solids.

At least 3-4 times per day! She is only eating fruits and veggies, no grains or protein besides breastmilk until 9 months so they are still very soft.

My 7 month old son usually poops once or twice a day, but it depends in the food the baby eats. It is up to you, but I would boil some water, let it cool and feed her a few ounces to loosen everything up in her.

My son has had a lot of 'poop issues' since 4mo. Our dr. told us not to worry about frequency, as each baby develops their own 'normal' but to be concerned about the consistency (Hard.soft, loose, etc.) As long as they are soft - life is good! BTW - this completely stresses out my hubby, as he thinks everyone should poop 3x/day! ha!!

My son at first pooped after every time I breastfed him. Then about a month ago he started pooping only once a day. Now that he is eating solids two or three meals a day, he poops a couple times a day but they are more solid then his exclusive breastfeeding poop.

My 7 months daughter poops once a day usually so if she doesn't poop by 2 days, I'll know something's wrong. My doctor said you just need to know her pattern. If she does a poo every 2 days, then you know if she hasn't done one or have done one too many, then there's something that needs to be checked.

My daughter has been sick for the past couple of days and on medication, the doctor told me, she will be pooping a lot because of it. And my doctor is right. My daughter is doing a small poo pretty much every hr. (Except when she's sleeping at night, she'll do one just when she wakes up).

So just remember their patterns and everything is alright. It's like any other baby routines, like feeding, sleeping etc. They ususally should have a pattern.

And as long as they're not having a hard time doing a poo and it's not very hard or very running. Then it's all fine.

Breastfed babies do not have anything to digest like they would if they were bottle fed. Now your feeding your baby solids you need to give them time to digest their food to know if pooping is going to be an every day thing. I am sure if your child is not constipated everything is fine. Just keep track of it for a week or two and if it seems there is a problem contact your doctor imediately or talk to your nutritionist at WIC they can help out alot since they are completely for breastfeeding. Mine was a big help. Good luck :-)

When I was breastfeeding exclusively, Lori would poop once every 4 days. I thought it was normal. When I started giving her infant oatmeal, she pooped 3 times in one day.

I think your daughter is just fine! My daughter used to poop every day, but ever since she gets solids she just poops about every four days. I talked to my doc about it and he said that a breastfed baby can't be constipated.
I wouldn't worry as long as she hasn't any troubles pooping!

Mason poops always in the morning when he wakes up around 7am and sometimes has another sometime in the day but usually just that once. That might just be her "normal." As long as her stool isn't hard or she's straining to get it out, I don't see any reason to worry.
