My baby girl turned 5 months on Feb 16, and has been eating baby food for about a month. At this point she is eating a little oatmeal in the morning and at lunch she has half a veggie & half a fruit with about 1 oz of formula to wash it down.. How much baby food should my 5 month old be eating and when should we bump her up to the full thing of each fruit & veggie a day?

my baby is already 5 months old now and he loves cerelac flavored banana, wheat and milk. it seems like he's already a 1 year old boy when he eats. I feed him twice a day followed by water. How much baby food can I give him in a meal? and is it okay if I'll also feed him fresh fruits? will it affect his digestive system?

My daughter is 4 and a half months and we started her on solids about 3 weeks ago. We started with breakfast and now she is on 3 meals a day. Heinz powdered cereals and lunches, about 4 tea spoons of powder mixed with water which makes about 10-15 baby spoonfuls of food with about 2-3 ounces of milk per meal.

She doesn't seem to be 'full' from the food so i dont know if i should give her more food and less milk or more than 3 solid meals a day. she has a bottle in between her breakfast and dinner so 3 solid meals and 4 bottles, sometimes a bottle before bed too. (per day)

I just dont know if i should offer her more food or stick with what im doing. She loves food and has never left a scrap in the bowl.

She isn't chunky either, she is perfect so not over eating.

Is it too much or too little?

What should i do?

Thanks ladies

my little girl is 5 months old and last time she was weighed she was 16.4 (about 2 weeks ago) she is very healthy only started feeding her some porridge oatmeal cereal of a morning an hour after her first bottle of the day, then she carries on every 4 hours she has 8 oz of formula milk, last bottle at 9 oclock and she sleeps 12 hours without waking . i am going to start her next week on some boiled and blended veg and fruit. i know she is just going to love it. so should i carry on giving her 8 oz bottle every 4 hours apart from night time plus breakfast dinner and tea? x

I started my 5 month old on oatmeal cereal and he loves it seemed like he was a pro at eating (lol) I started off with half a sop from the formula spoon and new is at 1 full scoop. I also gave him last week the step 1 carrots and he almost ate the whole thing. Now I'm going to get him green beans this week for thanksgiving dinner with the family. Oh and I feed him the oatmeal like once every 3 days.

My daugter is 5 months going on 6 months Feb 12th and she eats oatmeal and fruit in the morning after an hour or so of her morning bottle. Then around lunch time I feed her two tablespoons of veggies or meats. Dinner time she eats some more veggies or meats. stage one and stage two baby food.. she loves all of it and of course we tried one at a time for three days to make sure she wasnt allergic. she eats 4-5 oz of formula every two-three hours apart. she still wakes up in the middle of the night for a feeding and sometimes twice. she has always been a big eater even when breastfeeding.. she weighs 20 pounds. Doctor said she is a healthy baby .. we have just now started feeding her 5-1/2 oz of formula to see if she sleeps most or all night.

If you're going to add oils to your baby's foods, use organic coconut oil instead of butter. Their digestive systems aren't mature enough - and I would not want to give my baby any cow's milk products until she is older than 6 months - it is very allergenic to some - no sense setting her gut up for failure.

I started my 5 month old on solids a little after 4 months. We've tried sweet potato, avocado, butternut squash, bananas, and apples so far. I've been giving her about 6-8 heaping baby spoonfuls twice a day for the most part, a little less when I first started. I've made everything myself here and it's been super easy and she loves it all. I'm going to try pear and peaches soon and maybe some green beans. The problem is that I don't want to give her too much because their digestive systems aren't really that developed until 6 months old, but she keeps opening her mouth and screaming like she wants more. How much baby food should my 5 month old be eating? When is enough, enough?

I haven't tried her on grains on advice of my friend who's a nutritionist. She told me that the grains can cause constipation and aren't as nutritious as all the vegetables. I've heard a few people here who are having troubles with constipation and cereals so I'm glad I'm holding off of those for now. She also said that if you add a little olive oil or organic butter to your veggies her system will absorb more of the nutrients. I haven't heard many people talk about that so I thought I would mention it.

Even though it's not really recommended to start solids until 6 months, I started giving them to Abby here and there since she was 4.5 months. In the past week I've started giving her rice cereal or banana. She'll only eat 1/3 of a container and once a day. I'm not going to force her to eat more at this point.

Jaymee has been eating rice cereal since the first of January once a day. I started with squash a few weeks ago which she loved and then gave her some peas the other day and she didn't like those very much. Going to try some beans this week.

Not that I am an expert but my daughter is 5.5 months old and she is currently eating three meals a day. She has a full jar of stage one, fruit or veg, mixed with about 2 tablespoons of cereal at each feeding. I think how much baby food a 5 month old should have depends on the child. If she still seems hungry after her meal, you may want to think about trying to giver her more. It does not need to be at every meal but just when she seems to still be hungry. I have found that my daughter will turn away or spit it out when she is full.
