i give him a bath once a week. but, he's super clean.

the hospital told me 2-3 times a week, but if their skin starts drying out, you should do it less than that.

but, i think it's also mainly just your choice.

our son is 10 weeks old and we bathe him every other day and just wash his face with a wet cloth on the off days. His hair starts getting oily and he gets crusty pretty quick- in the ears, eye boogers, spit up, from sucking on hands, etc. We originally started every day baths, but he got dry skin pretty bad, esp. dandruff. Definitely important to keep up their hygiene though. Go with your instincts!

When she first came home we did sponge baths every other day until her umbilical cord fell off (she was 17 days old), then full baths every other day until she was about 7 weeks. She is now 10 1/2 weeks and she gets a bath every night before her last feeding to get her into a bedtime routine. I bathe her, dry her and massage her with lavendar baby lotion, breastfeed her, read her a bedtime story and we go to bed. She absolutely LOVES bath time. She will kick her little legs and fling her arms up and down and just smile and squeal. I love giving her a bath because she has such a good time and then enjoys her nightly massages.

when giving your babies a bath look at it like this how do you feel after a bath. That is how your baby feels after a bath. Every night is fine to bath a baby but make sure you lotion them down afterwards to keep the skin from drying out. Also I would not advise using baby oil on the head due to craddle cap use baby lotion this way it is not kept to the scalp. I used baby lotion on all of my children and grandchildren after baths to make sure of the skin not drying out and used baby oil behind the ears only to keep the ears from drying out. My favorite part of bath time is when I can shower with my son or daughter it gives us time to bond in the shower and I get to watch how much they enjoy it.

Once a week is about right. More often than that will dry out their delicate skin. You don't want to use soap every time you wash them either, soap is very drying. When you do use soap, make sure you get it all rinsed off. The slightest traces of soap can cause major irritation. Because babies don't do much to get dirty they don't really need soap. Most of what they get on them is spilled breastmilk, which has antibiotic properties (you can acutally use it to cure diaper rash) or formula, and neither of those take any more than water to clean.

I give my son a bath every day, I talked to my doctor about it and he said it was the right thing to do, even when he is still so little and does not do a lot like us adults, he still needs to take a bath every day, now my son is 2months n 17 days old and he takes a bath with me in the shower, at first it was a little complicated but once you get used to it you will do just fine... I think that it is never too early to start on a good personal hygene... so hope you are doing great and keep your son clean every day...

I bathe my 12-week-old so every late morning as the weather we are at is very warm. He looks forward to the bath every time and is calm, smiling and laughing after that, even if he is cranky before the bath. He will have a great nap after that.

I give my son a bath usually every day if not every other day but when I spoke with the hospital about giving baths they told me like twice a week is fine. Only because babies aren't going to be very dirty only from pooping and maybe spitup

I think it should be every other day, since their skin is so sensitive. Everyday is too much and once a week is to little. I know that my Son who is 3 months old gets his milk in his creases of his neck and it gets a little red. If you bath your baby everyday the perfume from the soaps dry out the skin. Plus babies love bath time, so every other day sounds about right :-)

Every other day or every third if I miss a day. His little hands start to stink as does any spit-up areas if I don't get those wiped off quick enough.

I bathe my daughter every night before bed and it calms her down when shes fussy. It helps her sleep through out the night since I let her stay in her bath about 5 min and she loves it she smiles and kicks and shes only 12 wks. I use Johnson baby wash with lotion in it, then put tons of baby lotion and little bit of baby oil after all over and she has the softest skin ever!

We bathe our son about every third night. My husbands job! I do all the breastfeeding so he does all the bathing. We didnt start bathing our daughter (now 18 months) daily until she started crawling so at five months. They dont need a daily bath until they are eating solids tbh because they arent really getting very dirty. A top and tail most nights is fine.

i do her bath about every 2 days ... this works for her, but i to would say you should know when he needs it most... you just have to keep an eye out for dry skin, craddle cap, wrinkles and stuff being down in there, etc.

With my first she got a bath with soap every 3 to 4 days and one without in between. She had really sensative skin and would dry up like a rasin if we did it more often then that. With #2, now 9 weeks she gets a bath every 2 or 3 days or more often if she spits up alot.

i bathe my daughter every night, because i feel like this throwing up and pooping need warm water and soap attention no wipes alone are going to remove the milk stinch, and the poop smell, and besides it make her comfortable because she feels clean.

I give my son a bath every 2-3 days. If he gets dirty in between i will bathe him without soaps. On the days that you dont give him a bath, you should just wipe over with a wet cloth, but otherwise I dont see any problems with once a week - I wish my boy was that clean! I do find that a bath before bed helps put him to sleep though!

I dont think so. I have heard that bathing to much can dry their skin, not sure how true that is but was told by health nurse that can bath with only water and no bath soap or lotions and thats fine for skin. It works out that we bath twice a week one week and 3 times the next. Hope that helps.

I bathe my son every other day, I use johnsons baby wash for sensitive skin, and do a full wash down with baby wipes in between. I follow each bath even the wipe baths with a lotion rub down to help keep his skin moisturized and my baby has never had a skin issue and at 2 months old hes never even had a diaper rash! (knock on wood lol) I bathe more often as needed because formula spit up stinks and requires more than water in my opinion....

I bathe my little one every night. We have a routine that includes a bath, bottle and rocking. He is now 2 months old and is sleeping for 6+ hrs a night. I can't complain. He did have a bout of baby acne and cradle cap at about 5wks of age but that is all gone now.

My son just turned 8 weeks old, in the beginning I bathed him once a week but when he turned a month I started bathing him every 2-3 days. It's really helping him get comfortable with the process and not to mention helps him relax and sleep through the night :)

I picked two days outta the week (Monday and Thursdays) and those are the two days I bathe him no how busy I am. I make sure it is a priority. I actually asked my Pediatrician and he said to bathe him at least once a week.

I bath Ava every night, as she loves it. And I am a bit of a clean freak. It is a joy to bath her, she kicks, laughs and smiles. It can dry out their skin in you bathe babies too much, I make sure we massage baby oil and moisturiser into her skin twice a day. I believe this is a personal preference and what ever works best for you and your baby.

I bath Bethany most nights as i find it relaxes her, she is two months old and enjoys kicking her legs about, this seems to wear her out and she is sleeping upto eight hours through the night.

You will find your own way that works for you, just remeber there is no real right or wrong way of doing things.

have fun bathing.

J. gets a bath every night, it relaxes him and gets him calmed down and signals that it is time for bed. So around 7:30 or 8 is bath time then bottle and asleep for about 6-7 hrs. Plus he loves the water and has had no dry skin, or the little bit i notice i put some baby lotion dabbed on it and no cradle cap either. Just a beautiful clean, calm, and good sleepy baby boy!

My daughter's skin doesn't like our chlorinated water so i fully bath her once a week, and use a wet washer when she needs it in between. Works for us :)

I asked my pedatrician because I the same question and he said to bathe on every third day. Mostly because the babies skin is so sensitive to soaps and such. I usually use a warm wash cloth and wipe her down in between baths.

I think it's an individual thing. I started out doing every few days, but I am finding it difficult to get the formula that she spits up from the folds in her skin with just a wipe down in the morning, so I've increased it to almost every day. My doctor said it's fine, and actually says a bath at night helps them start to recognize a routine and helps them sleep (it's relaxing). Plus, I think Bella is the exception to the rule, because she loves to take baths, it's great bonding!

I use giving her bath as a way to calm her as well so if she is fussy or gassy three days in a row, then she gets one more often. However, usually I find that I give her one every couple days.

I am bath my newborn at least every other day, sometimes I go three or four days in a row bathing her, but my Willow seems to have bad gas and the bath seems to help her work it out. You are his mommy, and you know what is best for your little man. I have also noticed a bath helps to put her to sleep if she is being fussy, so I guess my excessive bathing has more to do with the calming sensation than keeping her clean.
