My daughter sleeps a lot too! When I get her down for the evening, she'll sleep about 6 hours, then wakes to feed (but doesn't totally wake up really). She will then sleep for another 3 hours, then feeds again, and sleeps another 2!! She naps about every two hours during the day as well. She is very healthy, and super happy when she is awake...so she must be okay. She probably just takes after me...I love my sleep too! :)

This is normal. Optimal wake time for my little one (who is almost 5 months) is 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours. Anything beyond that and he gets overtired. At 4 months old babies should be napping ~5 hours per day (according to babycenter.com) and sleeping at least 10 hours at night.

My little guy sleeps through the night (sometimes), or he wakes up once for a feed. He is awake during the day for about 2 hours, and goes down for a nap. Some babies sleep more then others. If she is having a growth spurt, she will sleep more. I would definetely not worry! My niece is 18 months, and has always slept more than the norm.

Hi Susanna

My 4 month old has also always slept extremely well. He stays awake for a maximum of 1 1/2 to 2 hours at a time and then sleeps until his next feed (has a bottle every 4 hours) He also sleeps through the night already. Sometimes after a feed he goes back to sleep immediately for another 3 hours. He is very alert when he is awake and laughs and plays and seems on track with his develpment so I am not overly concerned. I think some babies just need more sleep with others. As long as your baby seems happy and healthy I dont think you need to be concerned. You could always give your ped a call just to set your mind at ease.
