My son, Beckett, is 15 weeks old and he isn't getting full enough on breastmilk/formula. I have been feeding him only bm, until about 2 weeks ago, when he seemed to want to eat 6-8 oz of milk every two hours. I was trying the breast milk only diet for him, but he always seemed starving still once I fed him for the 45 min per usual. Now, he's eating mainly formula, with some breast milk, but he still seems so hungry after I feed him! I've been thinking of introducing some rice cereal into his diet(and bottle), but not sure how to do so? The Pediatrician told me I could go ahead, but I didn't realize that I needed to ask more questions?! I want to add to his bottle, not feed on it's own..anyone else having this issue? Or have you introduced rice cereal into the bottles? Do you just fix as it says on the package and add to the bottle? Or fix the bottle, and add 1 tblsp to it?? Very confused, but wanting my baby to feel full...

Thank you! I do have "stage 2 and 3" nipples, so it seems to flow through pretty nicely, but not too fast!! I ended up starting putting just a tablespoon in his 6 oz bottle. It didn't seem like enough, so we're putting 2 tablespoons in. That seems to work really well for him! He's not spitting up as much, and seems fuller after each feeding. I've been doing the Rice cereal (Ped said not to do oatmeal or barley to start out for some reason?) every bottle he takes, and just been making 6 oz. He's just a little long and skinny guy, so I figured it'd be okay, and wouldn't make him overweight or anything. Sometimes he won't even finish his bottle(but it's VERY rare)!! I really appreciate all of the help, and input!

My son is nearly 15 weeks and a week ago i started him on baby porridge but not in his bottle. MOst health visiters will tell not to put it in the bottle. I just give my son a teaspoon of porridge mixed with his milk in the morning and he loves it. He was going every 2 hours and having anything between 5-6oz of milk now he is going longer between each bottle and taking the whole 6oz bottle as well. Hope this helps x

Per my pediatricians recommendation I've been giving my 13wk old a tablespoon of rice cereal in her 4oz bottle before bed & its helped. I started about 3 wks ago & now I'm incorporating a teaspoon in her 4oz bottle about once a day since she seems to want more formula but when I give her more than 4oz she spits up more. You'll have to make the hole in the nipple a pinch bigger so the baby can get it out but be very careful not to make the nipple to big or it will come out to fast & cause gas/spitting up.

Hi, I am going to start next week on one of my girls, she is always hungry even after her bottle and I cannot get her to sleep past 5am while her sister sleeps till 9am !!! I am going to spoon feed her as not sure about putting it in her bottle ??? I am going to take it slowly and see how we go . Better invest in more bibs !!!

Thank you so much for your input! My son already sleeps through the night, usually 7-8 hours(I know, I'm soo lucky!!!) However, he just never seems full during the day with just milk!! I did talk to the pediatrician, and she told me to just start it when I thought he was ready for it. I'm not sure if it's "too soon" to start feeding by spoon? He seems ready for something else, and gaining weight appropriately, even after having a touch of the stomach flu( he gained 1 1/2lbs in two weeks when he was sick!!!) He's not a fat baby, just really long and skinny(15 lbs, and 28 inches long), but he eats soo much!!

My son is 3 months and was born at 10.5 lbs. He is now ablot 20lbs and was solely BF. I just started hin an a table spoon of rice cereal in 2 oz of milk in abottle at night before bed. He is now sleeping for about 5 hours at night. His dr said it was fine to put it in the bottle since it is such a small amount and I put it in only 2 oz so that I know he will get it all.

My son is on BM only (born 9.5.09) . I have not started him on rice or anything else. However with my daughter (9.8.07) I gave her rice at 4 months. But since she never took a bottle I never mixed it.. I just made it a little watery and fed it to her.

My doctor did tell me that it is best to "feed them" rice and not put it in a bottle. You may want to call and ask your doc about that..
