Is anyone Trying to "Jump Start" their own labor? how?

i tried every wives tale that i heard and i ended up being 4 days late, and what put me into full contractions was when the doctor checked me, the contact(like a membrane scraping) from him checking my dilation was what worked!!!! so go and see your doctor and have he/she see how far along you are!!!!

i tried everything, walking, working out, (sex lol) they even induced me and she still didn't want to come out!

Well, I have tried it all... and I'm giving up. lol! I had my membranes stripped, have been walking and chasing my one year old all through the house, having sex, taking 6 EPO tablets a day, drinking red raspberry leaf tea, bouncing on my birthing ball and all I've got is 2 cm after 2 and 1/2 weeks to show for it. lol! I was in the hospital yesterday because by contractions were 6 minutes apart but my cervix wasn't changing sooo.... I went home. I'm really upset. I wanted to go into labor on my own this time but instead I'll be induced on Monday. Oh well! At least I tried!

I am 3 days over due, have tried walking, it worked for a while I got contractions 15 minutes apart but as soon as I stopped walking they stopped! Tried sex, that didn't work, I didn't even get any contracts. Spicy food didn't work either, I think she likes it more than anything! Today I am going to try walking up this one steep road by my house, I have heard walking up inclines helps, and I have a doctors appointment today, so hopefully he will stripe my membranes so I can get this show on the road!

K so after the boinkathon and EPO insert last night..i lost my mucous plug this morning! have a few good contractions but nothing regular or extreme yet...just got done boinking again and gonna do some house work and go for a walk

Good luck! I'm so ready to have this baby too! I'm almost 38 weeks and I'm 50% effaced but no dialation. :( I tried the EPO with my little girl and that along with tea and sex helped me dialate to 1cm. But it stopped after that. No effacing, nothing. I'm starting that stuff again with my little boy and hopefully everything with work! I totally feel your pain though. good luck!

well I am going to stay optimistic...Im running around after my 19month old and still working two jobs to help the time go by faster.my doc just stripped my membranes but said my cervix was still very thick even though I am 1cm dilated....going to try evening primrose oil and sex to help thin the cervix...my hubby happens to work in labor and delivery so its convenient for me that I have induction scheduled at 41 weeks if i dont pop before then. :)
im taking 4 capsules of EPO orally and will insert one vaginally tonight before bed. and I am brewing some rasberry tea as I type this..will keep you ladies posted

Nope. Nothing works. I went 11 days over with my first and I tried everything. Well except castor oil as my aunt did that and she and bubs nearly died.. so dont think its worth it, do you. Im already three days past my EDD this time, but dont really care. baby will come when they are ready, no amount of pineapple or sex will change that.

I feel you I am due the 16th and I'm just waiting no idea what would really work a lot are myths or coincidence but worth a shot I have had some contractions (brakston hicks) but she sure seems to be taking her time. good luck!

heya just reading your post im kirsty and 19 years old i have said this same comment to anouther post but this is how i did it..lol my son was born may 17th this year he is now coming up to 4 months..i used castor oil 5 days before i was due it was a saturday at around 5.30pm when i took 1 table spoon of it... i was in labour at 2am sunday morning!! my labour was 16 hours long but he arrived safley.. i will say though the labour was long..and i had to have an episiotomy and forcep delivery..my son arrived a healthy 7lbs 4oz at 5.39pm sunday evening.. i believe the castor oil started me off and i think i would have gone past my due date if i did not take it.. but every women and every pregnancy is different i had a really good pregnancy with NO problems at all so i found it a lot more convincing and easier to take it.. at the end of the day your baby will arrive no matter what its just a waiting game but if you can not wait i personally found it worked..is there any proof to say or show it harms the baby?? woman have been doing this for many years.. i did try everything else the week before hand and found this was the only thing that worked for me..but its disgusting lol anyway whatever you do i hope you have a safe delivery and everything goes well x
