I cannot believe I am so worried still, and this is my second child. I know as mothers, worrying comes second nature, but I just can't get my mind off it at times. My son will be 8 months old soon, born Sept. 4th. He seems to be no where near crawling, he just does the swimming motion still when he's on his belly. He seems fine with everything else, even seems closer to walking than crawling, lol But yet, still the big worry sets in. In the back of my mind, I know he will do it eventually, but its just so nerve racking waiting for it to happen. You always think, am I doing enough with him?? Just venting to other moms out here, would love some encouraging thoughts.. ♥

i know what you mean..my son is 8mths tomorrow and is scooting on his butt and rolling and trying to pull on stuff but doesn't realky get up on his own, but won't just crawl.. even tho he acts like he wants to--its wierd because his older brother was crawling at the end of 6mths and walking at like 9..and this kid is just taking his sweet time, but i keep telling myself, it's good cause he is already in everything and he will do it when he's ready!! No worries, he will do it soon enough and you'll be thinking why was i wishing for this so bad!!?

my son was born sept. 22nd and he just started "crawling" a few days ago... but he only "crawls" backwards... he will pull himself up when he grabs your hands and take steps to walk but no crawling forward... i was worried to but i have a niece that is 10 months old and i don't think she is actually crawling yet either so don't worry!!

My first born started crawling @ 11mos! Walking @ 14. My youngest started crawling here @ the end of last month (b.9/17) and is trying to stand up :( and walks holding your hands...I wish he would wait until later like the other one did :( I absolutely hate the learning to walk stages!!! So clumsy, and I worry soo much! Head injuries scare the crap out of me!!! Last summer my oldest was learning to run and jump and hop and I would go inside when he played outside, leaving him to his dad! Every time he jumped off something my heart would leap out of my chest, YIKES! Don't worry about the baby not crawling yet, be VERY thankful!!!

My son will be 8 months old on the 24th of this month and he has no sign of crawling either. He can swim on the floor very well, but just hasn't shown any desire to do any more than that. In fact, he actually hates being on his tummy. My mom told me that I never learned how to crawl either. She said she could sit me anywhere and I would never move, how nice is that?! Then I went straight to walking. Im trying not to worry about the milestones either. My little one will crawl when he is ready!

My son was 7 mo on the 23rd, he is not crawaling yet either. Doesn't really like being on his tummy a lot, but when he is, he just does the swimming motion too. Or he will just try and stretch to reach something. My nephew is 10 weeks older than Seth and he started crawling at 9mo. He was over yesterday, and it was funny watching Seth watch him crawl away to get at a toy! Seth was like WHOA!!!! How'd he do that? (okay, that's what it looked like he was thinking LOL)
Anyways, I too think Seth will walk before he crawls!

wow i thought i was the only one dealing with the same thing. alot of my friends have bbys that started crawling at 6 - 7 months my daughter will be 8 months soon and hasn't even attempted to crawl. she has a fit when we lay her on her stomache so i dont think she will be crawling anytime soon. like you i think she will be walking before she can crawl, because she starting to take steps when she's holding out hand. does your son sit up unsupported yet??

My older daughter didn't crawl until a month before she walked. She started walking at 15 months. She found it easier to scoot on her butt. It was the funniest looking thing. Maybe he'll do that instead. don't worry, they'll all do their own thing in their own time.

My son was born 17 Sep, he's not crawling. Does the same swimming/sky diving motion and turns, but not up on his knees yet. My daughter didn't start crawling til she was nearly 9 months old, but was walking before she was 10 months old. Don't worry about it. Every baby is different.

I remember reading that too, thanks for remining me. It does make sense, because there are quite a few babies who dislike that tummy time.

No worries. I read that less and less babies crawl since people stopped putting babies to bed on their tummies due to SIDS. My sept 12th baby isnt crawling but he loves to stand up and try to walk. He hated tummy time from day one. He can turn himself around in circlen and get around a little but its not crawling! I'm pretty sure he will be an earlt walker. Both my older daughter didnt crawl until 9 months!

I think you should enjoy it... as soon as little one is mobile, so are you...lol. On a more serious note, I know we have all heard that there are plenty of babies out there who went straight to walking, but it doesn't make us worry less about our baby not hitting those milestones. It makes a lot of sense to me what Tabetha said about babies that crawl first, my daughters were both crawlers and were somewhat late walkers. Truthfully, baby will find his preferred method of getting around in his own time, something I have to keep telling myself since my little one has no motivation to crawl either.

I agree with Kellie, some kids never crawl. They just go right to walking later-on. I've heard that some kids that crawl actually take longer to walk because they get used to crawling & don't need to learn how to walk. I wouldn't worry Sarah!

I understand! It's so hard not to worry about your child when other babies around the same age or even younger are doing things that your baby isn't. I read about babies all the time who are my son's age & they are crawling, pulling up, and cruising along furniture! A friend of mine has a daughter who is almost a month younger and her daughter has been crawling and pulling up for a few weeks now. My son doesn't crawl or pull up yet (he's 7 1/2 months). Even though it's hard not to worry, I know that he'll be just fine! He'll be running around the house before I know it lol.

I totally agree with the other moms. It's hard not to focus on the milestones our children are "supposed" to hit. Blah, blah, blah. Children develop differently. I have two friends who's kids never crawled. With one friend her son would scoot on his butt to get around. He's now seven and perfectly fine. The other friend's little girl never crawled and went straight to walking at nine months.

My girl is almost 7 1/2 months (born on sept 22) and she too hasn't crawled. when i place an object in front of her she will stretch to reach it or will roll side to side to try to get to it. I think there is no need to worry as all babies have their own agenda. Hopefully our little ones will skip the crawling and will master walking.

Some kids never crawl. My son is the same way on his stomach. Doesn't look anywhere close to crawling but is already taking steps when I hold his hands. It's nothing that you're doing/not doing...don't worry about it. 8 months is very young still.
