my daughter is ten months old and was diagnosed with torticollis about 3 months ago. it means she tilts her head to one side and uses only one side of her body. we went to a specialist because of a cough and he noticed her neck. i had already asked her regular dr about her neck and was told it was nothing to worry about.now we are doing therapy for her neck. they put tape on her neck every week and now she is starting to get a rash that is spreading because of the tape. does anyone else have a child with this problem? if so, how do you deal with it? its something that can be fixed with therapy but im worried it might get worse and she may need surgery for it.

My son also had it. We used early intervention pt in the beginning. We did that for a couple of months. Then when it was not totally gone we continued the pt that came to my house and we also went to a pt place. Never did anyone say anything about tape. They would stretch his neck and gave me stretches to do at home. We did therapy three days a week for a month and that was enough. Going three days a week was a big pain and he would scream but it worked.

She started her therapy when she was 10 months too. They're probably doing the tape then to get her to make a better habit of going the opposite direction that she has been going for so long. They did that to me when I hurt my back. Put tape in a big X on my lower back so that it would pull when I was doing something I shouldn't. Just keep on with the stretches and she will hopefully be fine. My daughter was. I wasn't too worried about the surgery, just dealt with what I had and hoped for the best.

Thanks for the into Jesse. They are putting the tape on and around her shoulders and up her neck. I usually leave it on from tuesday (that's when it's put on) then take if off Friday and Saturday. I was told drs like to catch it when they're younger so I'm a little afraid the stretches wont work and it will result in surgery.

my older daughter had it. We never did tape. We just did a couple stretches for a few months at diaper changes and it cleared up. The doctor threatened surgery with me too but my daughter's ended up fine. Where is the tape?

I would say something, they can find a different way to solve the problem, especially if she's allergic to the tape!!!

I can see in her picture the tilt. My daughter's head tilted that way too!!

My niece has it too, she's doing the stretches, but has to have a helmet too because her head is so misshapen!
