My daughter will be 3 next month and is having a hard time potty training. I have rewards for her for when she goes potty and I put her on the potty every 1.5 - 2 hrs. She ALWAYS holds it. She has only pooped on the potty once and has never peed. I am at a loss. We started this a week ago and just will not go. What am I doing wrong? She loves glitter tattoos so I ordered them and every time she goes, she would get one and she wants them. How can I get her to go on the potty?????

My daughter will be 2 Sept 23rd 2010, but she's already trained and has been for 10 months, so maybe I can help. Its only been a week, just keep offering the potty and if she has an accident take her to the potty and sit her there (sometimes they don't fully release). Turning on the tap in the bathroom can coax them to go too. Just make sure you aren't using any diapers or pull ups, only undies. Remind often and do not give up. If you are using the big potty, try a small potty. If you are using the small potty, try the big potty (with an insert). I used rewards for poop training, but got rid of them by 18 months, because I was afraid she wouldn't go poop if she didn't get a reward, I waited for her to ask for something. Good luck!

my daughter did EXACTLY the same thing! i would put her on the potty once every 2hrs and would ask her if she needed to go inbetween, but she would just hold it. like to the point that pee was dribbling down her legs! she would rather have an accident than pee on the potty. so i kept a really close eye on her and when i saw that she was at the point of bursting i would set her on the potty...she would still do her best to hold it, but atleast she would get some of it in the potty. then one day after me rushing her to the potty she just let go. i still reminded her, but sometimes i would walk past the potty and see that she had gone without me saying anything. its been months now with only the odd reminder needed and very few accidents. my daughter will be 3 next month and i cant for the life of me get her to poop on the potty!! lol the next battle. you have only been at it a week. trust me, you are not doing anything wrong. keep doing what your doing and she will be ready to use the potty soon enough. good luck.

I have the same problem somewhat with my girl. Mine will also be 3 next month and we have been potty training since she was 13 months ! At that time she went 8 times then just stopped and started up again a few months ago. Its been really tough with her but everytime she goes i jump up and down dancing and she loves it. I do a reward chart where she puts her own stickers on it and if she does a good job she gets a toy at the end of the week :) I keep her in undies all day & keep asking her if she has to go shes finally getting it that when she feels it she has to go to the toilet. They go when they r ready. good luck
