not eating table food yet?

Hi. My son was born the 24th and he's barely doing table food. He'll eat crackers, but nothing else. I can't even get him to eat the stage 3 Gerber foods. He gags if it has any texture. I talked with the doctor and he said to try and wait a week or two and try again. I'm not worried, just wondering if there are any other babies doing the same.

Thanks Tanya. I was thinking the same thing last week, he's going to be 30 and still eating pureed food. ;) We're actually doing better with stage 3 foods now. And he's eating a little more table foods. If I give him a little of something he can take bites of, he does ok with it, without gagging. Henry has been the same with a lot of his development, he doesn't do it and then it's like he flips a switch and instantly one day he does it, no working up to it. He's not much for talking yet either says ni-ni (night-night) and dawh (dog), so I'm sure he'll flip the switch and be saying 10 words at once in a day.

My boy used to be a terrible eater... but then overnight things changed. I didn't do anything different - it was just like he could suddenly handle the food. I would always start with the stage three food and give him as many spoons he could handle... if it was one then it was one... sometimes he had a few more before gagging and then I'd mash the lumps up and give him the rest. One day I was half way through the jar before realizing that he hadn't gagged yet. I hope he starts loving it soon! :) I used to tell myself that my boy's not going to be 40 and still needing his food pureed! :)

try some cooked pumpkin or sweet potato pureed and add hot water, I just kept offering different home cooked foods till she took something, ohh and if u eat something see if he takes it from u but pretend not to notice, that mite give u a starting point and add foods to that goodluck

Nope. Roxanne was eating regular food at 10 months.
