I have a little one who will by 10 months tomorrow. She is a BIG girl. She weighs more than my 2 1/2 year old! lol She is ALWAYS hungary, and I mean ALWAYS. She LOVES baby food and table food and always has to have something in her mouth. I am afraid though that she may be over eating. In ONE sitting, she eats about 20 ounces of baby food(I also mix about 10 oz of baby cereal in it too cuz she hates anything runny) and after that, she drinks a 9 oz bottle that is close to mashed potatoes(again I use cereal cuz she is always hungary and she doesn't like runny formula) On any given day she can eat 60-70 ounces of babyfood(don't forget all that cereal as well) and she eats about 5 bottles a day.. Does anyone think that is a little over the top? If so, anyone have any suggestions on how to get her to slow down? I have tried to lower her portion sizes on the bottle and food but she screams and screams and throws huge temper tantrums so I give in cuz I feel like I starve her :( PLEASE HELP!!!

I would talk to your doctor. That seems like alot. My son eats three small jars a day, some yogurt and 5 6 oz bottles

Thanks for all the advice guys... Had dr appointment, he took her off formula and baby food and said use whole milk and table foods like us. He said give her lots of things very high in protein as lots of protein calms down hungar pains. He said try that for a while and if it doesn't work, then bring her in and maybe look more into something being wrong. He said she is definantly over weight. She is only 50 for height and head circ. and 100 for her weight but she has always been a little chunk lol I feel much better that at least the dr said as of right now, lets not worry but if this doesn't work, maybe worry.... Thanks again for all your wonderful help!

My son eats what we eat...3 meals a day, some snacks throughout the day, and a bottle before each nap, or bedtime. Mind you if you have food during the day, and he doesn't he will scream at you until you share :) and sometimes he will out eat my 5 year old in a sitting. But I think he is average size for his age. You and your Dr, will know best. As long as she isn't gaining weight too drastically, and her bowel movements are normal, I wouldn't worry about it too much, if anything just make sure everything she gets is healthy so it doesn't matter how much she wants to eat :)

My son is 30 inches and weighs 22 lbs. But my son is pretty tall for his age given that his dad is 6'6 and his grandpa is 7'4.

My daughter is just over 9 months old and is probably more on the smaller side for her age, she weighs 17lbs 6oz and her height is 27 inches. Her schedule for eating is similar to the following:

Breakfast between 7-8am - 5oz bottle of formula and a bowl of baby cereal

Lunch between 11am-12pm - 5oz bottle of formula and something like peas, toast, some cheese and 1/2 a banana or if she was eating baby food a small bottle of meat/veggies (or something similar) and fruit like blueberries, banana, applesauce etc.

Supper between 3:30-5pm - 5oz bottle of formula and something similar in portions as lunch

Bedtime between 6:30-7:30pm - 5oz bottle of formula and a bowl of baby cereal

My daughter will have snacks in between meals but just something small like cheerios, rice krispies, baby mum-mum, fruit or yogurt and she also loves to drink water throughout the day. My daughter isn't a huge milk drinker either as 5oz is all she really likes to drink at any given time. My daughter goes to bed normally by 7:30pm and sleeps until at least 7am without any night feedings and isn't fussy for food throughout the day between meals so I know she is getting enough. Hope this helps but remember all babies are different and have their own appeitite for food. Take care.

So far the pediatrician hasn't been too concerned but I think its a l ittle extreme myself. I have tried to get her mind of wanting to eat all the time, give her fun things to do, gone on walks, played together, everything you can think of. She does take a pacifier and I have tried to stop feeding at a certain amount and give her a pacifier but that doesn't help with her hungar. She just cries and cries.. And I have tried the whole snack thing, and that doesn't work either... She loves those puff things you get a wal mart, she loves those gerber granola bars, she loves snacks but she either will eat and eat and eat till the box or container is gone or she will throw a fit till she gets actual food.. She has gone through a whole container, big container of those puffs in about 10 minutes!!! And she was still hungary!!!! I will talk to the dr again and hopefully this time he will be a bit concerned.. Thanks yall!! By the way, how much does your child weigh?

What does your doctor say? I think if she is hungry all the time she may need to be checked out. Does she cry all the time to eat? My little one cries when she finishes her food and I just put her pacifier in her mouth and she stops crying. My daughter is 10 months old her birthday is September 3, 2009.

Yes that is way to much. Please talk to your dr. If she eating that much your aren't starving by no means your giving her what she wants.

i do think that is a lot for your ten month old to be eatinng. U need to talk to her doc bc she shouldnt weight more then your 2 1/2 yeard old. if she keeps eating the way she does she may be come obese when she gets older. she could be eating bc she bored too.

I personally think that it is waaayyy too much. I feed my son baby food 3 times a day in the small containers and then maybe 2-3 bottles in between. 1 bottle at night. I mean every baby is different but that still seems way too much. If your pedi hasn't said anything then I suppose it's okay but I would definitely ask. You don't want her to keep up habits like that, if she did she could end up being obese (years from now) When she get's hungry I would either A.) give her snacks B.) give her an activity like going on a walk.
