OK, stupid question alert coming up...
I like in the UK, my little one is eating PB, however what is the jello part - is it like jam?

Dr recommendations are changing as far as waiting on PB. As long as there is no family health history of allergy to it (or other known allergens) then it is fine to try it at whatever age you are comfortable with. It is a GREAT sourse of protien and good fat, the "brain fat" developing kids need! Honey is not an allergy issue and you should definately wait until atleast one year to try it. Honey spores eaisly grow salmonella and babies digestive systems are too under developed to handle even a mild case of salmonella.

my son eats peanut butter...i ate it while i was breast feeding too so if he had an allergy to it, it would have showed up then. he was about 11.5 months when he had a piece of his dad's toast with some on it, and at his 1 year check up the health nurse said that was totally fine, and that apparently you don't need to wait until they're a year for anything anymore except honey and seafood till they're 2. With anything with a potential allergy for him (food allergies run in my family) i rub a little bit on his arm or leg somewhere to see if he has a reaction, he did to old cheddar when he was younger but that went away. sounds stupid but it works, and i'd prefer his leg swell up than his tongue or throat :) Good luck!

My little man did have a reaction :( We have no history of allergies in the family at all but he grabbed a bit of my toast one day and had an immediate skin reaction -eyes, hands and mouth but luckily that was the extent of it.It all calmed down after about half an hr and a bath. Dr said just try again at 2 and to test a little tiny bit on the skin. Hopefully he will grow out of it cos I LOVE PB and I'm sure he would too if he could have it. In saying this he has been completely fine with every other food :)

With our first, the doc had us wait until she was two. With our second (sept. 09 kiddo), doc said it was fine when he turned one. I think the peanut thing is more of an allergy issue. And I think with the honey thing, I think they have us wait on that because there are some dangerous things in it for babies if the honey isn't processed correctly. The thing with babies, when they get sick with something that doesn't affect us (whatever is in honey and allergic reactions) that much, could kill them.

I have given my daughter peanut butter on toast since she was about 9 months. I have an older son who had no problems and noone in either side of the family has a peanut allergy so I felt ok doing this. Both of my kids love peanut butter and have had no problems

My daughter gets both pb and honey. We just did a little at first and watched for any reaction, but all clear. They dont want the body to reject foods too early because a lot of times they will just stay allergic and always reject them. But just do tests first. And if you dont want to give it to your little one to try, rub a little on the back of the thigh and wait a few hours-ish and see if theres a reaction. Good luck!

My Abigail had peanut butter before 1 year old. I would scrape it thinly on a piece of toast. Now she'll lick it off the bread before eating it all!

my daughter eats PB&J for lunch sometimes. i made sure to eat PB while pregnant and BF bcuz research has shown that that can help decrease the risk of allergies. i waited til she was just over a yr and then started giving her tiny tastes at a time so that i could watch for any reactions. then i just uped it, a little at time and now at about 15 mnth she will eat a half a sandwhich and has never had any prblms at all.

I tried PB at about 13 months and my daughter tried it wrinkled her nose and then proceeded to throw it off her plate with a look of DISGUST! LOL she won't even go near it now but I can understand because I hate PB too :D

My son has been eating pb for a long time. My aunt gave him some at 6 months. He loved it. I, however, did not know she was going to give it to him, but luckily he wasn't allergic. I don't know anyone in mine or my husbands family with food allergies so I wasn't too worried. I think most of that is just a procautionary thing. You just have to try little bits.

I too have been waiting... but I think after reading this that I am going to try a little bit also and see what happens. We also have no allergies, and he has had no problems with food in the past, I think 2 is a long time to wait for a good ol' pb&j!

Our son eats peanut butter all the time too. I did wait until his one year doctor appointment. The pediatrician told us that it is a myth to wait with introducing peanut butter and that you should only be concerned about it if there is a family history of food allergies.

NO peanut butter for Abby (9/23) here! She already has allergy issues and the allergist strongly recommend against peanut butter or any kind of nut until she is atleast 2.

With my oldest I wasn't the one who introduced things, my ex mil was quick to feed him those things and luckily he was not allergic. With G and Tiger, we waited until after a year. E's mom didn't wait on stuff so we've been lucky. I was cautious at first but since it looks like he's going to be here for the rest of his childhood, I'm going to follow with what I have done with my boys, as the opportunity arises. Waiting 3 days between introductions of new foods is recommended

I really think that the no peanuts rule is more about choking than allergies. In this case I think Creamy is always a good choice.

We started at 12 months...LOVES Peanut butter. I don't know where we'd be without it. We don't have any allergies in the family so we went with it.

i ate TONS of PB when i was pregnant and when i was BF. i think it helps.... but at 13 mnths i give my daughter PB& J sandwiches and she has not had any bad reactions. just give a tiny, tiny bit to make sure. then just up the amounts, little by little (which actually works for kids with allergies as well....under DR supervision of course!). as long as there isnt a reaction the first couple times, then ur kid is prbly fine to eat it.
