Karen, that is actually a very good idea, I never thought to put one under the sheet.. Thanks for that tip, my middle son will be a year old tomorrow and I have a 1 month old also... good advice

I had a pillow in my sons crib, it was put there when he got sick to help elevate his head and kept him for coughing as much through the nights.. The moments he started rolling to his belly when as he would sleep, everything but the blanket he was covered with was taken out of his bed.. Even his teddy ( which took about a week to get over) My oldest son was the same way.. he got his pillow back when he transferred to the toddler bed. However my cousin did the same with her son and he was always sleeping under his pillow, his was removed until he was almost 3 when he started using the pillow correctly

i just recently put a pillow in my son's bed, only because he was rolling his blanket up and using it as one anyways. i found a very flat pillow and i put it under his bed sheet - this way he can't move it around, or get under it in his sleep

The concern about pillows (or any other items in the cot) is the accidental suffocation factor. With both my boys I've pretty much found there was no point for a pillow because they rolled around their cots so much it would have been pointless anyway.
We introduced a pillow for my eldest son when we transferred him from a cot to a bed. He is now 2 and a half and sleeps under it most of the time rather then on top, but he doesn't roll around as much so maybe there is some use for it!
