Many mommy's have mentioned how important routine is. I've tried to come up with a routine and it seems to be working, but I'd like to improve playtime if possible.

Here's our routine... wake up at 8:00am, change diaper and breastfeed until 8:30am, breakfast prep & breakfast until 9:00am, playtime until 10:30am, nap until 11:30, lunch prep and lunch until 12:30pm, playtime until 2:30, nap until 3:30pm, playtime until 4:30pm, bath until 5:30, playtime until 6:30pm, dinner prep & dinner until 7:30pm, playtime until 9:00pm, bed prep until 9:30pm, sleeping by 10:00pm.

I have to admit, the routine is not strictly followed as naptime and mealtimes change, sometimes. But give or take, there is about 7 hours of playtime per day, sometimes much more!!

Alexis and I play pattiecake, play with blocks, play with shapes, take pictures, play with soccer ball, make bubbles, go for small walks around the house, go for short walks outside, watch cartoons on tv...

Our house isn't very big so we spend most of playtime in the livingroom. I am having trouble keeping Alexis from crawling under the computer desk or on the tv stand, or down the hall towards the stairs. I think she has outgrown her toys, or maybe she's just bored of being with the same toys day in and day out. I try to change them up every couple days, but she doesn't have very many toys to begin with. I try reading books with her but she just wants to eat the pages, so we don't do that anymore. I want to spend more time outside with her in our backyard, but I'm afraid of Alexis finding animal poop in the grass and eating it.

If anyone has suggestions about playtime, I'm all ears!!

You could always rotate toys every week or 2. Maybe she'll be more intreseted in playing. You can also find local play groups with babies around your daughter's age.

We don't have a daily routine. I am more of a fly by the seat of your pants type of person. We go to many playdates throughout the week and are involved with social things in our community, like stroller strides, mops, breastfeeding support group, natural moms group, and charleston mommies. We are home maybe once or twice a week for a full day. And those days we play catch up on house hold chores. So Abby gets floor time and to play with her toys then and if she gets fussy I put her in the Ergo baby carrier and away we go.
