Our son Ryker came into the work 6 weeks early on Sept 14. I feer he is behind, he can't even sit on his own yet. He has really bad reflux and has had a hard start with weight gain issues. Is anyone else out there going through this. When should I start getting worried? He does roll all over the place and will NOT stay on his stomach!

I have girl/boy twins born 6 weeks early. My son can sit up by himself and is almost crawling, my daughter is just starting to roll over both ways and push herself along on her back. My son had really bad reflux too, and was on Prevacid until he was 6 months old. He has thankfully now outgrown the reflux and is finally starting to like baby food and is gaining weight. Your son sounds like he is doing just fine, try not to worry. If you can't help but worry, check into seeing if your state has some sort of early intervention program (check with your sons doctor). They will test your son - for FREE and let you know if he is on track or not.

that's exactly what i asked a few weeks ago, Bella-rose was born 5 weeks early and also had a lot of weight gain issues because she got so sick in the first few weeks in my mothers group she is still a lot smaller than other babies her age. She babbles but doesn't speak she cant sit up on her own she only stay's on her tummy for minimal time and is no where near crawling, i have an older son who is 5 and was doing these things long before her. It makes me feel bad because i feel like i'm compering them. But the answer's i got was she will do things when shes ready but have definitely noticed that a lot of other people who have prems are in the same boat. I'm not worried as much as what i was i know shes happy and once she starts crawling she'll be into everything lol

My boy was born sept 25th and was 5 weeks early. He is still not crawling properly. He sort of drags himself with his arms and pushes with his feet. He still cant sit up for too long unassisted.
I wouldnt worry too much about the time it takes your son to master things. Boys seem to take longer to do things in most cases. My neice is nearly 11 months and walking unassisted. And my nephew is 11.5 months and wont even let go of your hand. So every baby is different.

LOL my daughter is the same. my twins were born 5 weeks early and bella will roll all over the place but cant sit up yet however my son can. just proves that they all do things at their own pace. i actually joined the due in october 2009 forum so i could measure their progress around babies with their corrected age. He will get there when he's ready dont panic. :)
