My son has been on solids since 5 months old and has always been spoon fed, mostly baby jars and sometimes mashed up table food. And fingers foods for snacks, he loves feeding himself. But recently he has started to out right refuse to eat anything from a spoon, other than fruit pots, so I figure he wants to feed himself. I'm looking for some inspiration/ideas of what you feed your little ones at lunch/dinner times that they can pick up and eat themselves?

Breakfast - cut up fruit
Lunch - gerbers graduates (great finger food)
Supper - usually whatever we are having, just in small chunks (my daughter loves any type of pasta!)

You could also try KD cups, My daughter loves them.
She feeds herself EVERYTHING- she refuses to be spoon fed =)

I havent read the other posts so maybe this was already said, but try and show him to feed himself with the spoon. My little girl LOVES to feed herself with the spoon, she learned at 11 months all by herself (with some guidance) to dip the spoon and take a bite. Its SO cute and she is so proud of herself. And Im sure your little guy will be the same! Babies are so very smart so Im sure that if he doesnt already do this then he will soon :-)

My daughter started doing that at around 5 months. She will have toast and dry cereal for breakfast, a sandwich or pasta with cheese and ham or chicken, scrambled eggs and toast, or left overs if we have them, for tea she eats whatever we are having cut up into bite size pieces, then a yoghurt or fruit. For snacks she will have cheese, fruit, rice crackers, I make minin quiches, cheese straws, pastry pinwheels, minin vege muffins, anythin I can put fruit or veg into that her and my 2 yr old will eat

my son loves everything listed here as well.. the fruit, cheeses, sandwiches (peanut butter, tuna, grilled cheese, egg and cheese ect) he only takes a spoon from me when its yogurt or oatmeal (because he LOVES them and knows he cant feed himself-he just turned a year tuesday) suppers he gets pieces of chicken, fish, pasta, corn kernals, beans ect. snacks he loves mini ritz, arrow roots, raisins, teddy grahams, anythign he can hold in his hands. theres definitly tons of options. :) good luck!!

Mine is doing the same thing! And at this point a spoon meerly serves as a catapult for any disliked food.I give her any kind of fruit diced into little pieces. (She lOves mangos and grapes.) Diced chicken, fish, cheese. Rice (although this can be messy.) Scrambled and hard-boiled eggs. Cheese cubes. I bought a bunch of frozen veggies and I defrost as I need them and chop them up. Whole wheat toast, cooked pasta - just get the small kind. Sweet potatoes, potatoes, and cooked beans. Have Fun!

i give mine mostly sandwiches with spreads that dont make too much mess! they love cheese spread... ive been having the same problem with my son lately and have figured out if i want to give him something that has to be spoon fed if i just try to give it to him he shakes his head and wont take it but if i put the spoon in his hand and guide his hand to the bowl to pick it up and then to his mouth he will happily eat it. hes now learning to do it himself he just hasnt quite mastered how to get the food onto the spoon!
Lol good luck!

Dont worry the spoon refusal is just a phase my daughter is doing the same thing, I just give her things she can pick up herself which is pretty much anything and everything we eat.

Bagels, cereal, toast......I make grilled cheese sandwhiches and cut them up into small pieces. Crackers, tuna/egg/salmon salad sandwhiches etc.

I'm just rambling....good luck!

Grated or cubed cheese (mozza, swiss, provolone), avacado, any fruits or veggies (peeled, steamed or mashed etc.), whole grain pasta etc. The lists are endless. As long as the food is prepared properly for them they can pretty much each anything you're eating.

I introduced utensils at 10 months. By 14 months Roxanne was eating with a fork or spoon.

Good luck!
