I had my membranes stripped around 4:30, was contracting by 7:30 but didn't go to the hospital until 1 in the morning. I believe it does work but it was uncomfortable and is painful (just nowhere close to the pain of labor).

Went to the doc today and I'm STILL stuck at 2 cm and 60% effaced! ARGH!!!!!!!!! I'm so tired of waiting!! lol... He streched my cervix again and I'm having continual contractions but they just aren't strong enough... I'm so ready to have this baby! I have an induction scheduled for Monday.

It does hurt and is uncomfortable but labour is far worse. I got mine stripped yesterday and woke up this morning and lost my mucus plug. I dont want to be induced so it was worth it to me. It doesnt work for everyone but if it is going to work usually within 48hrs you are in labour. Im starting to get some niggling pains and it is now about 20hrs after i had it done. Some women start getting contractions straight away. alot of my friends said they were in full labour within 12hrs. it just depends how ready everything is down there. Good luck and I hope it works for you.

I'm 3 days over due, I have a doctors appointment today so hopefully they will strip my membranes. My last doctor's visit last week they asked if I wanted it done, and I told them no, to let her cook a little longer. Hopefully it works, and I will have my baby by the weekend.

I got mine stripped when it was time for me to have my baby. It actually didn't work for me. I dilated an extra centimeter and a half and that was it. It hurts a bit but its over just as quick. Dont worry, everybody's body is different and hopefully you go into active labor not long after.

it usually works within a few days if not sometimes in just hours. i had mine stripped this morning and i won't say that it didn't suck. felt a little sore and almost crampy for a few hours, but now i'm good and happy to report, that i've already started my early laboring. having your membranes stripped is not unlike getting checked for dilation, but with a bit more pressure and a little extra pain. it'll be okay and you'll do fine! my due date is the day after yours, but we wanted to go ahead and get things moving because this kid is going to be huge. if i don't fully go into labor, i'm being induced next monday. since i've already started contracting with the membranes gone, i'm hoping to have this happen by tomorrow evening. :) good luck mama!!
