Teething remedys?

My poor little girl has just started teething and she is so miserable. She is barely sleeping- she sleeps from 7-1am, waking once or twice- and then is pretty much up after that. Since 1 am last night she only napped about 2 hours all day. Its awful. I have tried everything I know of to help her, chew toys, cold/frozen wash cloths, ice cubes, Hylands tablets, infant pain reliever, rubbing her gums. My Mom even snuck her some benadryl to try to get her to sleep more. I feel so helpless! Does anyone have any other teething tips? How can I relieve her discomfort? What about helping her sleep?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Kyla, I just made a doctors appointment for this afternoon!

Noreen, what type of necklace is that? Is it a brand you can buy? Also, I didnt give her the Benadryl, I wasnt too happy about it. I was only saying that because that didnt get her to sleep either.

The teething tablets work for me. I would suggest getting her ears checked with my sons first ear infection the only symptom he had was trouble sleeping.

We use an amber teething necklace and teething tablets. The necklace has natural oils that seep through her skin that naturally take pain away. There is a BIG difference when she is wearing it compared to not wearing it.

I wouldn't give her benadryl anymore though. So many babies have been seriously injured or have passed away from an overdose. Too scary for my comfort. :)

Oh boy, it gets worse? haha Its been 3 days and her gums are so swollen, so Im hoping it wont last too much longer. Do both bottom teeth usually come close together?

Hang in there. Those other things you listed help but know that each tooth will only take a few days at most of this real painful cutting. then she will sleeeeeep to catch up! If she spikes a fever though be sure to check with your ped. Some babies have trouble with all the extra fluid involved with teething and can get an ear infection. The first teeth are usually cut through quickly. Its the molars that are killer!
