walking on tip toes????

Walking on the tip toes for a short period of time is normal. However, you will want to try to stop that asap. My brother walked on his tip toes, the pediatrician always told my mom not to worry because it was normal. He walked that way until he was 8 or 9 years old. What resulted from walking on his toes all the time were terrible calf cramps that continued even after his walk was corrected. So bad he would wake up in the middle of the night screaming and crying from them. It took a very long time to train him to walk on his whole foot, since he had done it for so long. Another thing, my fiance's brother also walked on his toes, not as long as my brother did, but when he was younger he actually had to have corrective surgery on his back because of this. I know this doesn't happen in all cases, but just be careful. I wouldn't want anyone to go through what my brother did. He is 21 now and still says those leg cramps were the worst pain he's ever felt in his life. Keep in mind he's been attacked by a dog, broken his neck, and is currently training for the Marines, and still says those leg cramps were the worst. Try putting hard bottom shoes on your little one, it will kind of force them to use the whole foot to walk.

My little boy, born 09-10-09 does it too. He had always stood on his toes and when he started walking along the couch too. But when standing he stands flat. Just this week he walked 7 steps on his own! Then yesterday he walked around the livingroom from place to place by himself! It was then that I saw every 2 or 3 steps he put his heel down. Wahoo! Hopefully he will do that every time soon.

my lil girl is da same, she was born 18.09.09. she stands on her tip toes and sumtimes wen she walks, she do go flat footed think its must b a normal thing. x

Hi, my son, Ethan is 19 months now and he still tip toes when walking but not running. He stands straight and sometimes I can see that he walks on his feet but more tip toes. I'm abit worried about him and I need advise. He was born c-section and weigh 3.8kg. His doc told me that it's normal when I visited him few months ago but now it really makes me so scared and I can't get an answer if some strangers ask me why he walk tip toe. Please help !!!

My daughter walking alone things and she doing it on her tip toes. The walker thing is to funny my daughter is doing the same thing. It cracks me up every time she does it.

thanks! now i wont freak out because i think my daughter is the only one doing it. i asked her doc today and he said its normal! @jade ayton my daughter just started walking in her knees too! she holds on to her walk and ride toy and just goes!!!! thanks everyone!!

Have learnt from someone that babies using walker have a tendency to do that...is your baby too using a walker....if yes then might be because of that

It's totally normal. Just like when people tell you letting them stand too early makes them bow legged is untrue walking on their tip toes is perfectly normal. VIA my pedi

my little one is doing the same thing!!! she was born on the 27/09/09 and the doctors and physio's said its normal...my little one has also started "walking" on her knee's...she she has beeb getting around like that the last few days...my life has totally changed...baby proofing everything today!!! Don't worry about it too much...she will flatten her feet when she gets the confidence to start fully walking...
