Hi my 10 month old daughter screamed/cried in her sleep last and and we couldnt get her to stop unless we woke her and took her into the light could she have had a nightmare or terror please someone help thanks

My son did it for like every week, except we couldn't wake him!! That is the difference between a night mare and a night terror. We asked James' dr about it and he told us "babies generally don't have night terrors at his age and if the frequency becomes greater, then that means he is in pain and needs to be checked out"...I'm just quoting the dr on that one. It is a very scary thing when your child is screaming and you can't even get their eyes to open!!!! Every effort we did to get him to wake made him scream worse!!! If you have a situation where you are unable to wake her, just hold her close and give her a pacifier if you let her have one and evenutally she will make her way back to sleep. If you ever had sleep paralysis as an adult, you know how scary it can be! That is what I think goes on with them, their minds are awake but they can't move their little bodies...just my theory :).

I think its very possible for babies to have nightmares at any age. Their little brains are like sponges and when they sleep their brain sorts through all the info they have absorbed during the day.
My daughter had a few weeks of nightmares after she stopped breathing and spent a night in the children's hospital. She was very traumatised by the experience. It was heart breaking to hear her scream and cry every time she went to sleep !
It will get better though I promise !

hi im not sure but my daughter born 09/09 did exactly same other day and was also very jumpy
