with thanksgiving over I started getting out all the christmas decor out and ready. with my son conner (14mn) woundering what mommy was doing. while I cursed in my mind while fighting putting my artificial tree together and the lights on not paying to much attention to what conner was doing. after getting the lights on I plugged them in to see if the lights would work. at that moment I got a glimpes of my sons face! with his eyes opeaned wide mouth to the floor and tangled in my christmas tree garland I saw the christmas magic just leep into his eyes for the first time. all of a sudden all my hard work was so worth it that moment. It made me wonder with this being our toddlers first christmas or whatever holiday you celaberate to particitate in what is you favorite christmas magic moment as we go through our preperations for christmas?

I dont know if this helps or not but my mom ( who has had 4 kids) put a string of bells on the bottom of our tree ( we called them the christmas tatletales) so that if we so much rubbed up against the tree she would hear us and was right on top of us with our punishment for touching the tree. I caint find those bells on a string but I went and bought tons of bells at walmart and hung them everywere on the tree and every time I her a bell i put him in a time out. after a week I havent had a problem. hope this helps. good luck!

Hi,
That's so cute!! Mostly I'm struggling cause I want those cute moments, but my son just figures the tree is for destroying so it has only lights on it cause decorations would be ripped off, not that he's not trying to rip the lights off too. He's unfortunatly not into his toys just into everything else! I'm thinking of trying to find a way to block the tree so we can all enjoy it without it getting torn apart. Last year was nice cause he was like 3 months old and would just stare at the colors, now not so much. lol We try to keep him away, or tell him "hands off" and we've tried just ignoring it to see if he'll just stop from lack of attention, but so far....
Any suggestions for how to keep and possibly teach this age group to look but don't touch?! I'd totally welcome the advice!!

its the lights for us too! she wasnt home when i put up the tree, (i thought it would be easier), but she helped daddy put the star on top, and loves looking at the lights. we also enjoy driving around or taking walks through the neighborhood to see the lights on the houses. other than that, i try to do a craft with her, like an ornament or she helps decorate cookies, and take her to see santa.
