Just curiosity but i was wondering what your babies daytime schedule was like? I know some of you will have a set routine and others dont...like me lol! How long do they sleep during the day? Do you wake to feed every three hours or do you let them sleep and feed them when their ready? How many bottles or bf's do you give them? Do you feed them different amounts at different times of the day, or the same size bottles? Does your baby have awake stints where their happy but dont want to sleep for 6 - 7 hours in a row like mine? Are you ladies giving your kids late night dream feeds? When do you think this should be phased out and how do you go about it? Sorry about all the questions but it would be nice to see where we are all at :)

My baby drinks 7 oz every 3 hours and has baby rice and is still hungry! he started to sleep from 10 till around 6 but has now started waking up for 7oz bottles at 3,6 and 9 in the morning. It seems he must of had a growth spurt and is now definately not satisfied with milk. i need to try some foods but am a bit wary as health visitors tell you to wait, however with a big bby like mine that is hard. he will be 19 weeks on sunday and weighs well over a stone. i really dont no how to make him feel full and satisfied!! ive eve given him aired water but he still screams for a bottle. wat to do !?!?

I ended up with a son exactly like I was: imposible to set on a schedule. He fusses when he's tired, so I rock him to sleep or put him in his swing (he's a cuddler, so has a hard time falling asleep on his own). I feed him when he's hungry and put him to bed for a long winter's nap about 8. Then he wakes up around 6:30 or 7 and it starts all over. Some people will tell you to wake up your newborn to feed him/her, I never did. Sleep is precious, and they're not going to starve to death overnight. If they need the midnight feeding, they'll wake up and let you know. otherwise, let sleeping babies lie.

My 4 mo. old wakes up about 8 ish...goes down for her first nap around 10 and sleeps for around 2-3 hours. Gest up and goes back down between 2-3 and sleeps for 2 hours-ish. Then we start her bedtime routine around 7 with a bath, book, nurse and to bed around 730.

On a normal mon-friday wk days, I wake up and 6am and nurse Abby then because I have to wake up my 5yr old and almost 4yr old to get them ready for school by 6:45am. I usually nurse between every 2-3 hrs or when ever she needs/wants it. I nurse on demand. She sleeps whenever she is tired too. And normally sleeps a lot during the day only waking up for a few hrs here and there. By 8pm, she is wide awake and stays awake until midnight when I take her to bed with me and nurse her to sleep. We are working on the little night owl to get her to be awake more during the day and going to bed earlier. But I have until she is 3 to do it! :)

This is Adileigh's daily routine, she will be 4 months Jan. 17 and we have been doing this same routine for the past 2 months, it has worked great for us!

7:15am: alarm goes off, I go to her bed and say "good morning" and she always greets me with a smile, I turn the vibrate and music on on her bed and she lays in her bed for a few while I go make her a bottle, then I get her out of bed and change her diaper.

7:30am: Adileigh is just recently starting on the fast flow nipples on her bottles so I use the slow flows for her morning bottles. She has her bottle and finishes around 8am.

8:00am: Done eating and I lay her on the floor with her toys and we have play time for about 30 mins.

8:30am: I put her in her bouncer bring her in the kitchen with me, turn on the radio and wash and dry her bottles/unload and reload the dishwasher.

9:00am: Time to get dressed for the day.

Anytime between 9am and 10am after I get her dressed she will fall asleep in her bouncer for a 20-30 min nap.

10:00am: Tummy time for about 30 mins

11:00am: Changer her diaper and she has another bottle. I use the fast flow nipples for this feeding.

11:30am - 2:15pm: Nap time, somtimes she will end up waking up 30 mins before nap time is over which is fine :)

2:15pm: Wake her up from her nap and change her diaper

2:30pm: Time for another bottle ( use the fast flow nipple for this feeding as well ) and then some more playtime afterwards

4:00pm: another 20-30 mins of tummy time

5:00pm: I take her and we both go close the durtains and turn out the lights for the night, it has helped her a lot with distinguishing night from day and when it's about to be bed time. From 5pm - 5:45pm it's quiet time.

5:45pm: We start to get everything set out for her bath, and get her her last bottle made for the night. Take a bath, get lotioned up, jammies, and then we sit down for her last bottle. Use the slow flow nipple for this feeding.

7:00pm: In bed

And that's our daily routine...it has made it great for her so she knows what to expect every day and it has been so much easier for me too :) Routine is always the best thing for your child I think...and babies love routine especially :)

This is Bryn's day:
Round 5 wakes for feed. Gets left either on floor or in cot to get other 3 brothers ready for school. Don't know if he falls asleep. About 8.30 has 1/2 bottle, catches a quick nap but too late, in the car and off to school. About 9 gets the other 1/2 in the car at the school. Might get a quick nap in car between school and shopping. Starts whingeing at about 12, just when I'm ready to have lunch. Naps for I don't know how long but gotta wake him at 2.30pm. Time to get the other kids from school so he may have a quick nap in the car. Has a bottle in the car at 3pm (FYI I've stopped the car LOL). Get home, help with homework, put dinner on while in jolly jumper. Has a bath round 5pm or 6.30pm depending on if there is a school assignment to be finished. Last feed around 7pm. Don't hear from him til morning. Any questions?

My little man's name is Cash and I'm just in love with him. We've kinda figured out a good schedule as of the last couple of weeks. I was actually worried because he started eating 6 oz very early on and eats every 3-4 hours, usually closer to 3. I kept thinking I was feeding him too much, but then I realized I just needed to relax. Babies let us know what they need and mine needed more than some others. My sister-in-law has a 10 month old that has yet to take more than 4 oz per feeding and that's okay too. All babies are just different, so give them what they want. :)

Also, I have kindof figured out that with my baby, 3 naps per day works perfectly! Morning nap around 10:30, afternoon nap around 1 or 2:30, and evening nap around 5 or 6:30. Each nap ranges from 1-2 hours. Then he goes to bed around 8 or 9:30 and sleeps till 6 or 7. It's nice that his nap times are flexible because it gives me more freedom. :) He's a good baby and seems real happy with our arrangement. Good luck and just remember to follow the little one's cues. Mine cries when he's hungry, tired or bored. Enjoy!

Oh gosh... Lucy has never eaten 2hrly... even as a newborn. In fact we had so many issues with her as a newborn because she never demanded a feed. she would go 6 hours or more with nothing (not healthy!). I am trying not to worry about the percentile thing now. Especially since Lulu is on the 75th for length, 25th for weight and her head circumference hasnt budged since she was born! Despite this, she does NOT look alien like with a strangely small head, elongated body and skinny trunk! She looks perfectly proportioned! Like you, my hubby is healthy wt and ht and yet he has a tiny head (my hubby has to buy kids hats from the surf shops!).. so thinking it is genetic. My paediatrician wants lucy on solids at 16wks, maybe she just hates milk (I was the same as a child and basically didnt start gaining weight til i was 2yrs old - at which point i was still the size of a 12mth old). Good luck with it. I think ur little fella looks just gorgeous and as a parent i think u know if u r doing the right thing or not. go with your gut.
love the nursing home comment. lmao.

wow i never really gave it any thought what it would be like on the other and I give you credit Emily! My son will sometimes eat every 2 hours (180mls) during the days...other days he will last 3 - 3 1/2 hours. He has bad days and good days...somedays he will only sleep for an hour or 2 all day and others he will go down for a good nap no problems after a bottle and playtime. My child health nurse has told me that i probably am overfeeding him a little but to feed him if hes hungry just water his formula down a little. Hes almost 8kgs and in the 97th percentile for his height and weight and hes not even 4 months old yet. Apparently my partner was the same as a baby and he has grown into a healthy person (weight and body type) with no allergies (he was on solids at 4 weeks). I havnt got my son on solids yet but i am thinking about it shortly. The doctor reckons hes healthy just well covered lol. Parenting definitely wasnt meant to be easy thats for sure....but its a worthwhile cause...well see about that when he picks my nursing home i suppose lol.

Hi Naomi...

well firstly my bub is a troubled feeder, so things have always been difficult there. but we are slowly getting into a routine - partially baby led and partially mummy led lol!

Lucy will normally wake around 6am for a feed and takes about 160ml (which is a small volume for her age). She then goes back to sleep for 3 hours, wakes and plays for an hour and by then is demanding a feed. At 10am or thereabouts, she feeds again, but won't take as much this time around.. maybe only 100ml. I'll try to get her to sleep again, but it might take an hour or so and then she'll only sleep for an hour. Then she is up, but a bit unsettled for an hour, and then may sleep again for another hour or play. At 2pm she generally has another bottle (160ml) and then crashes to sleep (especially if she only had an hour the previous time). Generally she will sleep for another 2 hours, wake and play for 2 hours, have another bottle at 6pm and then is her 'I WON'T SLEEP' period. Between 6pm and 9pm she will not sleep. She has her shower/bath, has play time or even just time on the floor. By 9pm she is sleepy and whingey.. has her final bottle by 10pm and is off to sleep by 10:30-11pm for a good 6-7hours. I think our routine is pretty good. She has never woken during the night... but she is on an anticonvulsant (hoping to be weaned off soon) that is known to sedate babies.. so this may not be her behaviour but rather an effect of the drug... i hope it is her!

Because Lucy doesn't usually DEMAND feeds, i try to feed her regularly, say 3.5-4hrly... but i keep an eye on her 'signs' like when she fiercefully sucks on her hands or gets whingey. Sometimes if i leave it too late, she falls asleep before she has finished her bottle and there is NO chance of waking her. Every day is slightly different for us too, but i am hoping the routine will stick because she starts full time day care next week when i return to work.
