When did you first get your baby's hair cut?

My son was born 9/24/09 with a full head of hair. So far he has had four hair cuts! He has always looked very grown up though, and acts very grown up as well. Each time I have cut it the hair has been down to the eyebrows, and it needed to be cut. This last time I cut it very short (1/2 inch) because the weather has been so hot and he was sweating so much.
Even if your son doesn't look like a baby anymore, he will always be your baby at heart!

My son is almost 2 1/2 and he's probably had at least a dozen haircuts, with the first being at like 3-4 months old. He was born with TONS of hair, and it grew really fast! I had to get it cut because I people would always mistaken him for a girl and it was upsetting to me. I guess it didn't help that my son has really long curly lashes, and had super rosy cheeks as a baby. Lol.

I'm not ready to cut Cayden's hair. He was born with a full head of dark hair that has grown lighter and gotten really really cury...I'm not ready to cut the curls, risk having them not grow back and then having him look like a big boy! He's already very tall for a 1yr. old.

Henry's first hair cut was I think in June. I've cut it a second time since then. He was born with a full head of hair, so it was pretty long (for a boy) when I cut it. My kids have curly hair too, so it was curling up. He'll still be your baby, haircut or not.
I also had my first haircut at 6 months. Born with a full head of hair too. People still tell me I have the thickest hair they've ever seen.

Gunnar will be having his 4th haircut right before his 1st birthday. He has a full head of hair...and he always has. We had to do it...way too much hair to deal with. He still is my little baby...and your son will always be your little baby...just with a little less hair...and it looks REALLY cute!

Just wanted to update everyone. We got N'icholas's hair cut! We took him to a place that only does children's hair. He got to sit in Lightening McQueen, played with the steering wheel, watched Nemo on the TV monitor and got to hold a comb while he was getting his hair cut. Didn't cry at all. They took before and after pictures, saved all the cut hair for us and even gave a certificate for "First Haircut". It looks good, except she cut his bangs more than I asked...oh well, they will grow out. I'll post the pic's soon. Good luck to everyone who is going for the first haircut and thanks so much for the comments!

My son just turned 11 months the beginning of this week and got his first haircut! Although I just did it myself at home. I just trimmed the front and the sides and he looks much better. He doesn't look like a baby anymore, so I know what you mean by that, but you can't keep them little forever.

My son was the same way, my mother-in-law cut his hair around his ears, I was not mad because he needed it but did make me sad that my little baby is growing up so fast, my daughter who is 3 1/2 didn't have hardly have any hair until she was almost 2 and I refused to cut it! So it was kind of a shock that he had hair lol, maybe if you can wait until his first birthday it might make it easier. Good Luck!

My 11 month old got his first hair cut on Saturday. I feel it is usually tradition to cut a baby's hair at 12 months. This hair cut was due to his uncle saying that he was tired of seeing his nephew looking like a girl wearing ponytails. So he kidnapped him and ran to a barbershop...had the barber cut all of Rj's long hair off. Yes I am mad...since it is also tradition for the father to take his son for his first cut. Also this is our first son...we have 4 girls.

We really wanted to cut our little guys' hair too. He is 11 mths. My mother thinks I'm crazy as he'll lose the one or two curls he has & my mother in law thinks its bad luck before a year. So glad to see this discussion brought up! Nice to see other parents going for it. I don't think we'll wait much longer than...

My husband wants to cut our boys hair too. It's kind of long over the ears and in the back, but the top is still very thin and scarce. I just don't want him to look more bald! I've been brushing his comments off and I'm hoping he can wait, at least until right before his first birthday.
