Where do your babies take their naps?

My little boy is just over four months old and has been sleeping through the night for about two months now. He takes an average of 4 naps a day, but for only 30 minutes at a time, and maybe if I'm lucky, about an hour. Sometimes he'll fall asleep in his swing or bouncer and usually I'll just let him sleep there... Other time he'll pass out as soon as he's done with a bottle.

Recently, I've been trying to put him to take his naps in his crib. At first he had trouble with it, but I was persistent and now he's doing a lot better. However, if he falls asleep in his bouncer or swing, I still leave him there.

Do you move your babies to the crib, or where do they take their naps?

my twins are 4 months and a week old. i have HUGE problem with sleep... first of all, they dont sleep through the night... they still eat at least once (only about 3 oz) and we have this little chairs that vibrate that they sleep in. they sleep in them ALL the time.... ive been trying to move them to their cribs when they fall asleep at night, and sometimes they sleep ok for a few hours, but usually they wake up shortly after i do. only one of my twins (Madison) will take a pacifier, the other (Hunter) wont at all. He doesnt fall back asleep without eating... I'm really trying to get them not to eat during the night, which will make it alot easier to get them to sleep in their cribs.

and yes, incase you were wondering, I prop bottles for them in their chairs. and yea, i know you're not supposed to do that, but i also know that I would like to get at least 3 hrs of sleep a night :) . oh and I have two babies, and only two arms.... lol. no offense to anyone who has children but i always feel like just one would be a piece of cake! haha but thats because two-at-once is all I know! and i know how challenging being a mother can be no matter how many you have.

if mine falls asleep in her swing or anywhere unless im holding her, i leave her, she rarwly sleeps during the day for more than 15-20 mins at a time so when she does sleep and i dont have her in my arms i leave her rather than risk waking her

My daughter was like this. She wouldn't nap at all when we first brought her home, and then only 15 minutes or so in the swing. We got her to go to bed at night after three months, but still was having trouble with the napping. So I started giving her a bath and a bottle of formula about mid morning and she would usually sleep about and hour and a half. Then I would take her for a long walk in the afternoon and she would sleep in the stroller. Now that she is used to napping at these times, she will just do it now without needing the bath or the walk. So now we go for a walk after her nap and she stays awake and loves looking all around!

I used to let my son nap in his swing, but he was doing the same thing, only sleeping about 30 min. So now when I see him starting to get drowsy, I put him in his crib. At first it was hard and he didn't nap well, but now his naps are generally an hour long and some times 2 hours. He is sleeping so much better in his crib!

I was always told to let sleeping babies sleep, as well, however, I have noticed that some routine helps my little guy sleep better. He is going through a growth spurt right now so he is a little off track. He usually takes 2-3 naps between 30-45 min. I used to leave him where he slept but now I try to lay him down either on the couch, in his co-sleeper, or his crib. That way I get stuff done and he gets used to the fact that I cannot hold him all the time. He just turned 4 months old and he has been having some separation anxiety so I needed to make this change. It always depends on the baby though, so if yours is good and isn't showing problems I wouldn't worry. My little guy has slept through the night since he was 3 weeks old because I leave him asleep at night and wake him during the day. I stayed really structured in the beginning so he wouldn't have a messed up internal clock. Good luck!

my girl is 4 months (born 9/14), and she has been sleeping through the night in her crib and taking naps in her crib since she was about 8 weeks old. I put her down still mostly awake and she cries for never more than a minute, finds her thumb, then falls asleep. until recently, she has been taking 30 minute naps- to the second! 3 or 4 a day, depending on the times. Lately, though, I have been letting her fuss a little when she wakes up at that 30 minutes, and about 75% of the time, she falls back asleep for another 10 or 15. It is rare that she takes a nap that ever lasts longer than an hour, but since she sleeps so well at night, i just let it ride out...

My son is a weird weird baby! He wont fall asleep in my arms and hates his swing! So he has always been just layed down in his pack and play downstairs in the living room. He was just taking tiny cat naps a million times a day so I started laying him up in his crib for naps about a week and a half ago and he is sleeping so much better. Now he will nap 2-3 times a day for 1-2 hours! He also has been sleeping in his crib and through the night since 2 months!

my son is 18weeks, and he sleeps in his crib for everything, nap and at bedtime. i usually put him in there when he is tired but still awake and he falls asleep on his own. it was tough at first, but if your persistant it pays off.

My little one tends to fuss when it's nap time, and when she does I will put her in her crib. Sometimes, she just falls asleep where she is (typically the Pack n Play with her play gym). I will let her nap there if she starts her nap there. She will always fall asleep in her swing, so I tend to save that for when I really need her to nap long.

I am like you if my little one falls asleep in her bouncer I leave her, if she falls asleep on her play mat I put her in bed but, normally for her first nap of the day ( the longest) I put her in my bed and let her stretch out...other than that she sleeps in her crib

My daughter is sleeping through the night as well..and she averages about 4-5 naps a day also. She usually sleeps for about 1-1/2 hours at a time..I guess this is average as they say babies this age should be sleeping about 10 hrs a night and about 5 during the day. If she does fall asleep in her swing I leave her, but if I lay her down I try to put her in her crib. She is still sleeping in our room in the pack n play..but for her naps I put her in her crib....usually!! Good Luck!

My daughter takes her naps in her swing or boppy on the couch. I found that she doesnt nap as well in her crib, but she does sleep through the night in the crib. At night time she has always used the crib. I personally dont let her sleep with me, i dont want a bad habit forming and most importantly I dont sleep very still so im afraid of crushing her.

Aiden used to fall asleep under his jungle gym and i would put him in his cot, if he cried i would leave him for 10min then check on him if he was still crying. Aiden loves sleeping though and since he was 12 weeks he has slept 12 hours every night.

My son is almost 4 months old and he sleeps through the night. I kinda cheat though by putting some rice cereal in his bottle before he goes to be so that he doesn't get hungary during the night. But when my son falls asleep I try really hard to put him in his crib cuz i dont want him to think that when he gets a little older he has to something (me holding him, a swing, bouncer, rocking chair.....ect) to put him to bed. So when I feed him even during the day wen he has naps I try to put him in his crib so he knows that that's where he's suppose to go to sleep, and for him to put himself to sleep as well... I dunno that's just what I think1

Abby has NEVER slept in her crib. Yeah, I get crap from my husband about it considering we HAD to have a crib before she was born and I insisted on getting it right after I found out I was having a girl. LOL

But Abby takes her naps on my chest, on the couch, in my bed next me, in the Ergo Carrier, in my arms. She never sleeps alone or without me or her daddy in the room because she chokes on her spit a lot and needs to be sat up and her back to be patted to get her airway clear again. If that makes sense. She'll sleep in her crib....eventually. I'll start transitioning her from my bed to her crib when she's about a year or so.

She sleeps wherever she wants! I'm just so thankful she's sleeping I don't dare move her. She started sleeping through the night in her crib on her own, so I'm thinking she'll eventually want to nap in there too, I'm not too worried about creating a bad habit ... yet LOL...

My baby falls asleep in the swing, carrier and in my arms, most of the time. I think its ok whatever you do.

My son takes two little naps in the morning/early afternoon and he always naps with me on the couch...I sleep too! Those naps are usually only 30-45 minutes. For his longer nap in the late afternoon around 2-4ish I put him in his crib so I can get some house work done. He's pretty good about sleeping anywhere. I love to cuddle with him on the couch and know it won't last forever so I"m enjoying while it lasts.

I'm not good with routines and structure, I have to admit, so my little one pretty much naps wherever. Sometimes in his swing, sometimes on the floor of the room I'm in, sometimes in my arms, sometimes in his crib. Which might be why I don't have the best sleepers in the world! My oldest still wakes in the night at 23 months, so I am going to try to start putting some better routines into place to prevent having 2 that do that!

until he turned 4 months, jan 4th. My boy would sleep for naps usually in his swing. But now I have started to make a little routine fallowing his cues. usually a nap in the morning (10:30-12) and one in the afternoon, (2:30-4) it seems to be working so far. I just wait till he shows signs of being tired, whiney, yawning, red eyes, or even dozing off. I take him to bed, wrap him up and lay him down. He has been falling asleep on his own for a few weeks now. I hope it stays like this, but it can change so fast, all depends on the baby!

My little guy is 4.5 months old & we have been struggling with sleep - consistant sleep continues to evade us. As part of my reading to help with our sleeping I read that consistant sleep routine - even for naps is recommended - so putting down in the crib every time they sleep - even naps. Having said that, I think there's best practice & then there's reality & even though we try and have him sleep in his crib most of the time I do leave him in his swing, car seat etc as long as he's buckled in and safe on occassion, I see no reason to wake the beast if he's having a moment of peace & I've missed the window to get him to his room before he doses off.
