My son wont crawl either! he rolls everywhere and kinda scoots around but he wont actually crawl. we got him a walker and he loves it, hes been pulling himself up on our couch for about a week now and wants to walk on his own very badly. i wouldnt worry about the crawling stage a lot of babies just skip it and go for the walking

my son is 8 months today..he crawls like crazy and pulls himself up and thinks he can stand up without holding on to anything (doesnt stay up long after he lets go tho)

My 8 month old is exactly the same...she's totally skipped crawling and if pulling herself up on furniture. My health nurse told me that she prob wont crawl and will just start walking one day. Your son might do the same...

Both of my sons first started pulling themselves up on all fours at 5 months old and started crawling just before 7 months old, they appear to be in a hurry to do everything!
Izaiah will be 8 months next week and pulls himself up to stand then walk along the couches. My family health nurse says that some babies don't crawl at all and just all of a sudden start walking so I wouldn't get to worried if I was you.

My son started standing alone without holding on at about 6 months, just after he started crawling. He could stand alone for several minutes, even bend over to pick up a toy and return to standing without falling. At 7 months he started walking. He is 8 months and 1 week now and he can walk long distances, like 8 to 10 feet without falling. He has also mastered walking, stopping for a minute, and then continuing walking. Next is running I suppose...

Hi Sonja,

My baby girl is almost 8 months old and is also standing up against everything. In some rare cases babies do not crawl but only start to walk. This is however not very good for the baby, as they need to go through all the stages of development. I would say try to put everything out of reach when putting him down on his tummy. Also, if he lifts himself on his arms, lifts his legs to a crawling position to show him how it is done, but don not move the things he wants closer. This can be difficult, because my daughter did not want any help when she showed signs of crawling. She screamed when I tried to lift her legs into the crawling position and it weant even worse bacause she could not reach the things she wanted. It did however only take her about a month to master the act of crawling, and a mere two weeks after starting to crawl, to start standing up against everything. The problem is only that now she does not want to crawl, she only wants to stand-up.

my son now walks his walker, he can't yet stand alone though, i caught him doing a pull up one day, needless to say he wont be doing that again for some time, not that he fell or anything it just scared me to see his legs dangling from the table lol, he crawls on one leg i dont think he will make it to two legs before he walks but im not worried, he gets around on his own. He's also talking up a storm, well saying mama, dada, nene, baba, nana, our convos are the best lol he'll be 8 months on the 21st

Riley was born Sept 27 and isn't rolling very well or starting to crawl at all. She loves to sit but wants really nothing to do with tummy time. I put her on her tummy a little every day just so she will get used to it, but she loves to sit and yell at the kids and dog.

My son has been sitting up steadily on his own since he was 5 months old. He crawled backwards and scooted all around starting at about 6-7 months before he got really good at forward crawling. Now he is 8 mos. and crawls all over the place. He prefers to stand though and pulls himself up onto anyone or anything. He also walks around the furniture and can stand on his own for a few seconds at a time. My oldest son was a preemie and did not sit steadily on his own until he was 7 mos. old and he took his first steps by himself at 11 mos. Every child goes at their own pace though! Just have fun watching them!!

My son has been crawling since about 6 1/2 months...he can pull himself to standing on anything now but cannot stand unassisted. Sometimes we hold him up and then let him go, but he immediately falls to his bottom...he does not have the confidence to do it by himself yet!

My daughter is 7.5 months and doesn't crawl. She doesnt seem interested in it either. She has been sliding backwards for about 2 months and moves in circles. She rarely gets up on her knees. Shes been sitting up since 5months old and she goes from sitting to crawling position but then falls on her belly. She loves to pull up on everything and she always wants to stand with help.

My son is 7 1/2 months. He is crawling everywhere and pulling himself up on things. He thinks he can crawl and mistakenly tries to let go of things and keep crawling. He always ends up falling :(

Ava is 7.5 months and has been crawling since about 5 months. She stands and walks around all of the furniture. She also falls over a lot though. She says Mummum and dada. All babies are different. Both of older children walked before they crawled at 12 mths.

hi! my daughter is almost 8 months and sounds like your son. She can sit up fine, never has liked belly time, will put herself on her belly and whine. she likes to stand...the doctor said that a lot of babies don't crawl so not to worry. looks like our little cuties are going to be running around and not crawling at all!

hi my son daniel is 8mths and he is crawling all over the place. he was just army crawling for about 2mths and now is up on his hands and knees. He climbs up on everything and tries to stand alone, walks around furniture ect. He also says mumma, dadda, botbot. Don't stress they all do things at different stages. My eldest ( now 12 ) walked at 9mths and my 2nd walked at 12mths. I'm sure they will do what they want when they want.hahahaha. good luck with it all sandy

My daughter is 7 months but will be 8 months on the 21st and she will get herself in the crawling position and even sway back and forth real fast but she still cant crawl yet. she can pull herself up though with some minor help to stay in position. but like i was saying for the most part she cant crawl real well but she has done her first step and can move her legs forward but thats about all she will do.

My daughter is crawling pretty efficiently and cruising along everything she can pull herself up against. She also stands on her own for about 3-5 seconds before falling. Not sure why she is so mobile, I didn't encourage it!

my little boy is stting up by himself... and pushes himself forward but wont get on his knees?? I dont know why.. he always loves to be on his feet but doesnt walk about.. and always stays in one place... He has just started saying ''dada'' but no ''mama'' x

my sons new obsession is pulling up and standing, its all he wants to do right now. toys are of no interest to him he just wants to crawl around the house and find things to pull up on ! ha but no walking yet, sheesh i cant handle that just yet!

Hi Sonja (and other mums),

My daughter Inés is 8 months old now and has been crawling since 6.5 months old. She started crawling backwards at first (for about 2 weeks) until she found the way to move forwards. She's been pulling herself up a lot in the last 1.5 months and now cruises confidently and takes a few steps with the aid of her vtech baby walker.

Her friends, also born in Sept '09, are mostly sitting up and only a couple of them are actually standing up. None of them are crawling properly yet.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, they all get to walk eventually and some babies don't crawl at all! Plus, sometimes it would be a lot easier for me if Inés wasn't so mobile and curious :-P

My daughter started showing signs of crawling at 7 months, but just recently started to crawl. She is starting to pull up on everything she can and would prefer to do this than crawl. They say some babies will start walking before they really crawl so don't worry. Your baby will do it soon :)

My daughter will be 8 months on the 27th, she is army crawling and just rocks on all fours! She loves standing up holding our hands and steps very well, and if we go to sit her up from laying down she pulls herself up to standing and then climbs all over us!

Heidi couldn't care less about crawling - I never crawled. I just scooted on my bum and eventually stood up and walked. I meet a lot of moms whose kids don't crawl. I wouldn't worry. Every kid is different.

Bezad is the same i spoke 2 his doctor & she says its normal & we shudnt discourage him frm standing up but wait till he completes 10 mnths & then use the walker ring

my 8 month old daughter is crawling and standing and pulling herself up and "cruising" she can walk if we hold her hands too and walk with her. she did just start crawling and then sitting and going from sitting to crawling on her own

Laura is 8 1/2 months and on the day she turned 8 months she decided to crawl and pull herself up all in the same ten minutes, now she is always on the go. Now when I go to set her down she straightens her legs because she wants to stand. Some babies skip crawling and go right to walking. :)

My son is 8 months 2 days old. He has been wanting to walk since he was 5 months. If we hold him upright, he will stand on his feet. He also likes to jump while we're holding him. I think if he could walk, he would be running instead. He just mastered rolling at 6 1/2 months. Now he is starting to use rolling to get places. I wouldn't worry much about when your son will walk. It will come. Sometimes babies skip the crawling phase and go right to running. I get on the floor with my baby when he's rolling around. When he's on his tummy, I try to show him that if he uses his legs that he'll get places faster. He gets very excited when he does actually move when pushing off of an object.

My son is 8 months old. He has been crawling for a couple weeks, he stands up/pulls himself up, and has started "cruising", as in walking holding onto furniture.

I wouldn't worry about your little one not crawling yet! They all start at their own pace, I've been told som ebabies don't even crawl. My son crawled on one knee and one foot at first. He did it one day then wouldn't do it for like a week. Then all of a suddent just started, now he doesn't stop!

our little girl is nearly 8 months she can sit for ages playing with her toys, if she needs to reach for something she rolls onto her belly but will not crawl she brings her knees up but then pushes herself backwards, she wont sit on your knee for very long she wants to get down and stand and will walk when your holding her hands she loves that. Not every baby crawls some skip that and start walking im not worried she wont crawl and im not going to try and force her she will do it when shes ready if at all holly is very strong on her legs and wants to be on her feet all the time.

My daughter was just he same until about a month ago, and figured out crawling, but still would rather stand and try to walk, is taking some steps now. And as all pediatricians will remind you, some babies skip crawling altogether, so don't stress!

My baby her name is Alicia Marie she is 8 months last 15 of this month and she is crawling all over the house she's noisy learning how to talk, teething at the same time, and learning also how to stand up by her self. she's also watching TV.she love cartoon educational, last 14th of May we were at her doctor for her shot she's 7.6cm tall and 7.5weight. is that normal for her. that showing all that activities i just want to know.she one and only so i don't know about baby.

My son is 8 months and he's been crawling since he's been 5 1/2 months. He now has been walking while holding onto the side of things, like the couch. He's so fast and gets into everything...phew...

I say don't worry about Jano. Maybe he'll skip crawling altogether and go straight to walking. All babies are different and learn at their own pace. You can't rush things. But like I said don't worry. If he doesn't go straight to walking he'll eventually be giving you a chase when he starts crawling :) Maybe give him some more tummy time everyday to build up his strength in his arms and shoulders. That big brain is really heavy for those lil shoulders to carry :D Good Don't worry and be patient..Good Luck

HI! My son was born sept 5th and has NO interest in crawling! Here in the last week or 2 ive noticed him kind crawling more like pullin him self lol hes crawled before when he was much too young that lasted a few days when he figured out how to roll and now he just rolls every where he wants to go LOL he loves to stand is still a litlle wobbly but if you let him pull up on your fingers his little feet hit 90 and the next thing you know your taking off with him. Im the youngest of my fam and this is my first child, all my family says its ok, some babies dont crawl at all. My sister told my when my (now 8yrs old) nephew was a baby he never crawled, she was worried sick always on the phone with the dr then on his first birthday he just got up and walked to the other side of the room. Im not sayin either of our babies will do that lol but ya never know. One thing that keeps me sane is to remember that my son didnt come with a "how to" or "this will happen when" manual lol he'll do things when he's ready

my son refussed to crawl fallward for ages he had the signs of crawling at around 6 months and tarted reversing but refussed fallards at 8 months he has finally started the fallward motion he just clicked one day and has been fast as anything. Some babies dont crawl and just get up and walk, however you should still try to get them to crawl even after there walking so that co-ordination is working just play games and possibly crawl around with them. they feel left out being the only ones on the ground so if you join them it mite give him that push. jake always get s the most excted when im crawling around with him.

Dylan is crawling and standing and cruising along furniture. He has started to let go and stand for a few seconds. I don't think he is ready to walk yet but i definately think he will be early he was born sept 25

my boy was born 9/24. He can push himself around with his legs, but isn't exactly crawling yet. He uses rolling for his mode of transportation. He is also not sitting completely on his own yet. I think once he is fully independly sitting, crawling will soon follow.

Your son sounds like my older daughter. She HATED being on her tummy. She was pretty slow with all her milestones, I think because she hated being on her tummy. She was a scooter, she scooted on her butt rather than crawling.

My lil girl is going to be 8 months on the 29th and she goes everywhere by army crawling and goes form sitting to laying anytime she wants she is starting to pull herself up and stands for a long time holding on to stuff...She has been army crawling for about two months I think she could crawl but she would rather army crawl but she can get anywhere she wants to...she gets up on all fours and pushes herself up like her butt in the air. she crawls now its been a week and she is ot even 8 months yet..

Mine is almost 8 months and almost walking! I was 7 months old when I started walking, But my older son was 10 months old and my husband was something like 13 so it just depends on when he decides he is ready. It is not neccessarily a problem if he is getting around he probably just doesn't care to walk or crawl yet!

My Ellie is the sae - will suffer tummy-time for a bit. She is pulling her self up on the furniture and loves her walker and door-bouncer - anything that means she can be on her feet. Crawling is just preparing them to walk, so if they skip that stage then it doesn't matter. Just go with what he wants to do.

My daughter does about the same as your son. She mostly rolls from one place to another instead of crawling. But some babies never really crawl but go straight to walking. Don't worry though as most babies only start to walk at about 1 year old. So your son is doing great.

I have twin girls and they are now 8 months and 2 days. both of them are sitting on their own and they also fall over to pick up something and once they pick it up they can't sit back by themselves which they end up crying for help. They are also trying to stand on their own but they do it for like 15 seconds and they fall.

Jackson, my son, is rolling everywhere and gets up on hands and knees and does the rock thing. I think he is either too scared to move his arms or doesn't realize yet that he can, to help him crawl. He'll even get up on his toes from his knees. We hold his hands and he'll walk or rather run and he loves to jump and hop.

My son will be 8 months next week and he's been crawling for over 2 months and trying to stand with out us or the couch for about a week. My chiropractor said that crawling is very good for the babies. It helps shape their spine and back and builds the muscle and strength for later in life. Have you tried the "role model" method? Crawling yourself so he can see it done? What about playdates with other babies his age or slightly older? My son decided to start talking and standing after we spent Easter with a cousin and her 1 year old. Right after we left the party, my son was talking a LOT and trying to pull himself up to stand. I've heard that Boys learn a lot from watching others.

my daughter Maddison was commando crawling a lil over 4months and has just started to pull herself up using whatever is around she has always much preffered standing to crawling she cant get herself into a sitting position but if i sit her up she will sit there and play or watch elmo on tv unaided.............my girlfriends youngest skipped the crawling stage altogether and just decided to walk instead it sounds like Jano might do the same!!

My daughter is 8 months. She has been crawling for about a month or two. SHe can stand and go up to a stand on her own for almost a month. Today was the first day she side walked while holding onto the coffee table. SHe will walk while holding our fingers but not by herself yet.



Remember though, every baby is differrent and developes on their own time. :) He might skip crawling at first, he might go from standing to walking and then go back to crawling. My friends son did that.
