Anyone else past their estimated due date?

My adorable son was born on July 12th- a few days past his due date of July 10th. I was miserable and elected to have the induction. I am glad I did- he weighed 8 lbs 15 oz at birth and at birth had an infection. He is in NICU getting antibotics now.

im 3 days past and going crazy lol i know the longer the better they say but shes gonna be a toddler at this rate when i have her

My first boy was 5days over, most mums get that you can't rely 100% on the due date you are given. It's mostly those who don't have kids or know anything about pregnancy that will make the comments. If your doctors were worried they'd be doing something, so just say that to them that all is going well and he will come when he is ready, the docs think he is fine or they would have made sure he was here by now. I am due with baby boy number 2 but the doctors gave me 2 dates cause they don't actually know when I fell pregnant. From the dates it worked out edd to be 14th July but from scans baby measured to be due 17th July. It's the 12th today and I have had no signs what so ever that bubs plans on moving anytime soon so just have to wait and see what happens.

Lol Krista! I love it. My first came on her due date and she is really smart! :0)

Anna, I'll ask my Dr. if I make it to Friday. He did say they would do a more "aggressive" exam if I'm still pregnant on Friday. I'm not even a week past due yet.

Really the only concern with being born after the due date is placenta function. I haven't researched it or anything but I know after 42 weeks the placenta stops working as well as it was before. The only reason they induce prior to the 42 weeks is because the due date is never 100% so if they were a week off and don't induce until 42, the baby could actually be 43 and the placenta could be affecting it. I don't mean to freak you out and again I haven't researched it but it is something to just ask about.

One study showed that babies who were born on or after their due dates had an easier time of learning later on in life.

So, just tell them that your kid is going to be smarter than theirs.
