Bottle suggestions

I am starting to do research on bottles for my baby. I used the Nuk brand bottles with my daughter and they don't seem to be as popular anymore. I am looking for opinions on what bottles have worked for you. What did you like about them and what didn't you like?

Please do not respond to this to tell me I need to breast feed. I will be breast feeding, pumping, and if need be use formula. With my daughter I did not buy a single bottle or formula and ended up having a 4 am run to walmart one night to get them. I tried numerous attempts and eventually we realized she was tongue tied which was preventing the latch. By this time it was too late and my supply had dried up (despite pumping) So again please do not use this form to tell me to BF or attack anyone else who is choosing to solely bottle feed.

evenflo has some good bottles, the nipple that comes with their breast pump is the only nipple my daughter would use. We did have nurse fed babies in daycare who used Avent bottles and really liked them.

I've always used the Playtex bottles with the drop-ins, They are so much easier to clean than the other bottles.

I used the Playtex drop-ins, with the "nurser" style nipple. My mother told me it's supposedly the most like the real breast if you plan to do both. I liked it, and confess I think it is definately a good choice if you think you might alternate.

As a daycare provider I have seen several bottles that work, but I would not reccomend the cheapie "Gerber" bottles, as the nipples tend to collapse and make feeding difficult for your little one.

For my oldest Son I had playtex drop ins. Because I was only using bottles when we were apart and I was nursing for the majority, I found them very conveinient. When I would pump I would use the BM storage bags that can be put directly into the bottle, saving on time and energy for who ever was feeding him. I still have the bottles and plan on using them again for this baby. i found them clean and easy to use, expecially with frozen BM.

I had Advent bottles given to me/bought for my first boy, but when I started using them he wouldn't drink from them. When he was born they gave him a NUK pacifier, so I tried the NUK bottles with him, and they worked great. So now I have a lot of NUK bottles, which I plan to use for this one. If he'll take both NUK and Advent, even better!

All of my kids used the Playtex nurser. I found them convenient, easy to clean & sterilize. They are affordable as well, & didn't give my kids a lot of air in the tummy. As for the way you feed your baby, that is purely your decision & bottle feeding is not a sin against God.

I did both myself & dried up early for my last child. So, after breastfeeding & supplementing formula, he ended up with formula only at 4 months old. Good luck!

I agree about the Dr. Brown's bottles We used those with my first child and plan on using them again with this baby :) Best of luck in finding the right bottle to work for you and your baby.

If you are going to breastfeed and bottle feed, I like the Airdari bottles to avoid nipple confusion.

we bought the avent bottles.
i started breastfeeding and switched when i returned to work at 4months.
they have great acessories like the bottle warmer and a good sized steriliser as well as screwing directly onto the breast pump.

we had no dramas during the switch and the bottles are a good practical size and shape.

i think at the end of the day though a hungry baby will drink from just about anything!

My mom and one of my friends lived by the Platex drop ins mainly because you don't have to clean bottles and you just have to put the insert in and throw it away when the baby is finished. I registered for those on my baby registry because I couldn't go wrong with two people raving about them.

My sister swears by the born free bottles or glass ones. I used the old playtex drop in ones, but that's what my son liked.

Thanks =) My daughter loves the Tommee Tippee toddler cups so I had looked up those bottles. They deff. look great and the reviews are good. I am thinking about going with those as well or Dr. Brown's.

Hi there,

I'm on chronic medication, so still deciding if I'll be breast or bottle-feeding... I've also started looking into bottles, as even if I breast-feed, I'll need to express so hubby can help with the feeds.

The range that I'm most impressed by us the Tommee Tippee "Closer to Nature" range. They even have what looks to be a good anti-colic range. I've pretty much decided that the "Closer to Nature" range is the one we'll be going with...

Good luck with the search!
