My 8 month old daughter is very interested in food and eating by herself. What are some good finger foods that I can give to her? She has no teeth yet and we have tried buying "mum mums" and the "graduates treats". I am looking for more fresh food ideas and besides bananas can't think of any that she wouldn't need teeth for. Thanks!

My daughter likes peas. I smush them up for her. Also any kind of veggie cooked til they're soft is good. I sometimes give her mac and cheese but very rarely. I've read keeping them to mostly fruits and veggies the first year helps establish good eating habits. I on occasion give my daughter soft meats (meat loaf and other grounded meats) but mostly just stick to cooked veggies and fruits. I hope that helps. Also she loves little crunchies.

My 8 month old, Sofia, loves fresh cooked green beans. If you over cook them a little its even better for ones with no teeth. also our lunches have come to include chicken nugget pieces ( like weaver brand, that you can microwave) Sofia just got her first tooth last week and has been finger "fooding" it up for almost 2 months now.

My son is 8 1/2 months and we have been giving him the gerber graduate snacks (Cereal puffs, yogurt melts and the cheeto looking ones). We also give him rasberries, peaches, plums, nectarines, grapes and strawberries, all cut in halfs, fourths or little bits.

Last night she had mashed potatoes (I let her feed herself! Messy, but good for pictures and memories!) and mashed turnip and chicken. She loved all of it.

Anything that's really small and able to be gummed is good. My daughter refuses to eat baby cereal so lately I've been giving her small pieces of lightly toasted toast, blueberries, cut up grapes, small pieces of watermelon. She also has the puffs as well as well cooked pieces of my dinner, but mostly just veggies like carrots, beans and peas.
