I was feeding my baby 5 1/2 oz every 4 hours at 3 months. He was hospitalized for acid reflux and I was yelled at by 2 different doctors saying he should not be eating that much. They even made me meet with a diatician twice before he was released. he now is only allowed to have 100ml (less than 3 1/2ozs) every three hours. He only weighed 10lbs 5 ozs at 13 weeks old! He was born at 7lbs 4 ozs! So its not Like he was overweight.

My daughter was born on July 21st at 8 lbs 9 ounces and is weighing about 12-13 right now. She eats 5-6 ounces of formula every 3 hours. I wish it would be more formula every 4 hours but she just wont drink more at a time.

My daughter was born July 31 and weighed 8 pounds and 3 ounces. We have just up-ed her formula to 8 ounces! And she eats about every 4-5 hours. I was worried that she was eating way too much but the doctor said there was nothing wrong with it at all.

My baby (7/21 @ 7.13 lbs) eats about 5 - 5.5 oz (currently @ 11 lbs). I thought that was a bit much cause she started that about at 7 wks old. Her doc says the same thing.

My baby was born on July 14, he was 8lbs and is now 15 pounds 4 ounces and 60 cm long!! :P Big Baby!! He's on formula too and sometimes eats as much as 240ml (8 oz) a sitting! Most times he feeds between 125ml to 180 ml every 3 - 5 hours though. I think as long as the doctor thinks they are healthy, we should give them as much as they want. So far my baby has been progressing well :P

My daughter was born on July 29th, at 7.5 lbs, and now she weighs probably 11 or 12 lbs and eats 6-8 oz. during the day, every 3-4 hours. At night she can gobble up between 8 and 10 oz.! She's a little piggy!

My baby was born July 19, 8lbs 6oz, almost 9 weeks old now. At his 1 month appointment he weighed 11lbs 5oz. He's probably between 12 and 13 lbs now. We feed him 4-5 oz of formula every 2-3 hours. He doesn't like to sleep for long periods of time during the day but he sleeps at least 5 hours at night, sometimes up to 7 hours. I'm a new mom and I'm no doctor but it sounds like a lot of our babies eat like yours =)

My little girl was born on July 27th and weighed 8lb 15oz. Went to the Dr. at 6weeks and she is now 10lb 10oz, this places her in the 50th percentile for weight. I really have no idea how much she eats since she is almost exclusively breast fed. Some days I do nothing but feed her, and other days, she will go 4 to 5 hours between feedings. I will sometimes give here a bottle when I can tell she has drained my milk supply, but she only eats about 2oz.

My little one was born on the 14th of July, She weighed 6 lbs 8 oz. She is now eating 6 oz every 2-3 hrs, and goes 6-8 hrs at night. She is 11 lbs now and the Dr says she is growing wonderfully. All little ones eat and grow at a different rate. I wouldn't be too worried about how much she eats. It sounds pretty normal. Good Luck

Hi! My baby was born last July 16 and now he's consuming 5 oz but 4 scoops of formula every 3 hours. I thought he was having too much, but people say it's normal, especially baby boys. But he defecates just once per day and sometimes every other day. Is that normal?

I think I'm starving my baby! He was born July 13th, weighed 7lbs 5oz and now probably about 12lbs. He is breast and formula fed. I nurse him through out the day but have a low milk supply so probably 4 times a day I give him formula. I only give him 2oz to 3oz. I thought anymore was to much. Looks like the rest of the babies are drinking 4oz to 5oz.

My son will be 2 months old Thursday and drinks 5 oz every 3 hours (or really close to it) He is already 12 pounds (7 pounds 8 oz at birth) But the doctor doesn't seem concerned by the volume he is consuming. Just said that if he gets too heavy we will have to have him slow down!

you might wanna be careful with the rice cerial because it can cause babies to get constipated but the oat meal dont cause it

My daughter was born July 24th and weighed 6lbs 15oz. The last time we weighed her she was a month old and she was 9lbs 2oz. She is now drinking 3oz every two hours. Even through the night she would wake up and do the same thing. Sometimes she can eat 4oz if she swears up and down she is hungry! LOL But I started to put the tip of a teaspoon in her last bottle of rice cereal for about 3 or 4 days now and she has been sleeping about 5-6 hours straight. My mom said she started doing that to all 3 of us (her kids) when we were a month old. I think she started us on barley and then later on rice cereal. Nothing ever bad happened. She said if she listened to what the doctors told her about all 3 of us we would be some thin babies who's cry at the top of our lungs every two seconds wanting to feed more and more!!

My son was born July 19th, weighing 7lb 6.5oz. He's eating every 3-4 hours and usually takes between 5oz and 9oz per feed (although sometimes he just has a couple of ounces). A few days ago he drank 42.5oz in a day. Tonight he finished 9oz and 2 hours later started on a 5oz bottle which he also finished off. He's putting on just under a pound a week and yesterday was weighing in at 12lb 8oz. The HV says that it's absolutely fine as his weight gain is just right, and just to keep feeding him on demand.

i am in the same boat, my son was born on july 23 and he eats 5 oz every 2 to 3 hours and then sometimes he wil want more and drink another 2 oz after that. my doc said he was getting a generous amount of food and there is nothing wrong with it. she said that babies will eat as much as will make them full and then they will stop so i shouldnt worry. he was born at 7 lbs 6 oz 3 weeks early and now he is over 12 lbs. so i guess it is just however much the baby wants.

hi rebecca, my son was born 17th july (almost 7 weeks) he weighed 9lbs 6 at birth not sure how much now i think around 13lbs (guessing) and he eats 4-5oz every 4 hours sometimes during the day 3.5 horus but at night he lasts around 7hrs. i wouldnt be worried. But i did have to change my formul to novalac sweet dreams for hungry babies because he was wanting to eat 4-5oz every 2.5-3 hours and was still unsettled inbetween..now on new formula he is a new baby... we just have hungry babies, at least they are eating we'd be alot more worried if they weren't eating (my friend had that problem) so at least we know they are eating and gaining weight.
