SAHMs: do you have a schedule?

I've found that a routine helps my son sleep better during the night and also helps my older kids as well.

Yes, I have a general schedule. I have a set of two and a half year old b/g twins ( June, 2008) and my five month old son ( july 2010).

Once my oldest get up in the morning I give them breakfast, and let them play for a while. then Give them lunch between 11- 12 depending on when they had breakfast and put them down to bed. After they wake up they have some snacks and play until dinner. Maybe watching a movie somewhere in there.

With my five month old, he gets up around 6 in the morning, gets a bottle goes back to sleep. When he wakes up again he gets his baby cereal mixed with fruit, and a four oz bottle to wash it down. Then around 10-10:30 he goes down for a nap. When he gets up from that he gets his lunch of veggies and fruit, and then has an afternoon nap a few hours later. He gets his cereal and a veggie for dinner. During the day of course there is play time and the obvious diaper changes. Then we try to get the three kids down to bed between 7:30- 8:30. Every other night for the five month old is a bath so we work that in too, and every night for my two year olds is a bath.

Our lil gilr has kinda made her own schedule and we just go by that every night. She naps from 330pm-530pm. Wakes up, plays, bath time, lotion eats some cereal followed by a bottle then I rock her to bed and she is asleep by 730pm. Good luck with everything!

My son has no schedule so i play it by ear too.. he wakes up and eats n then sleep and eat and play and etc n sleep n play but the timing change all the time and he wont go to bed until 12-3am and then he wakes up every three hours to eat n sometime wake up between 6-10am

my LO will be 5 months in a few days. we don't have a schedule but we follow a routine - bath after mommy eats breakfast, play-nap-play, night bath before or after dad/mom's dinner, LO sleep around 9-11. sometimes she naps in the afternoon, sometimes she doesn't. sometime she wakes early, sometimes late. i used to get stressed by LO's changing schedule then i realize LO doesn't have one so why force it or think it? i just go with the flow and get things done in between.

My daughter is 4months old on sunday and she naps every 2hrs for an hr. she eats when she wakes up and sometimes a bit before her nap.
I get her ready for bed around 830 and her last feeding after that n then she is in bed by 930. whether she falls asleep right away is a different story. But she sleeps through the night til around 730 or 8am. If she wakes in the night she just needs a soother stuck back in her mouth and her music turned back on n she is asleep in 5 mins. once I got her on a good bed time routine the napping routines during the day just fell into place. she use to stay up til 1am n sleep til 11 or 12. it really makes a huge difference baby is happier and u are happier. more free time for mommy n daddy!

Do whatever your comfortable with. ;) My daughter is nearly 5 months.She feeds @ around 7am,11am,3pm,7pm and 10.30pm and stays awake for 1.5-2hrs after her day feeds.She is in bed by 7.30pm and sleeps till around 6.30-7am the next morning.Some days she has less sleep and some more sleep.

What I did that helped me (stephanie) with Remington waking up so much at night was the cereal in the bottle. I only do it when he was going to bed. I started the cereal around 5pm and any bottle after that I put cereal in until he goes to sleep for the night. If he woke up at 3am I put cereal in that bottle also. He eventually went longer and longer until he is at where he is now. He goes to bed around 8 and doesnt wake up until 6 or 7 in the morning =)

My son has no schedule and with my hectic schedule its very difficult to put him on one. He still wakes up anywhere between 3 and 6 times nightly and now that im a single mother working and going to school fulltime its really wearing me down.

I dont really have a schedule per say, but my son really made his own and I make sure I go with it. He normally wakes up anywhere between 6 to 8 in the morning for a while. then he takes a little nap, about 45 min, around 11. Then at 1 he takes a 2 to 3 hour nap. The only one of the day. I make sure I dont go anywhere around this time becuase he gets all messed up for the next couple of days. Then he wakes up around 4ish. About 6pm I feed him some food, then the bath and then a bottle for night time (with lots of cereal lol). he might take two bottles depending on the time and how hungry he is. He goes to bed between 8pm and 9pm and he sleeps through the whole night with out a stirr until 6am or 7am the next morning. A lot of moms say that im lucky that he sleeps the whole night. But my mom told me that getting him on a schedule just at night time will let him know that he needs to clam down and get ready for bed. Ive done the night schedule of bath at 6ish and the cereal bottles after that since he was 2.5 months...and I just started the food in with it. But it never fails he goes to bed around 8. Everynow and then he will get up at 3am to eat be changed but goes right back to bed until 7ish......Its nice to be on a schedule and it will definitely help you in the long run =) good luck!

Hi my sons 4 months old today his schedule is roughly staying up for 1.5 hours sleeping for 1 hour...eating every 3 hours and bed time at 8-8.30 sleeps through till 6.30am.
But all days are different with time of naps etc depending on when he wakes if he sleeps longer or shorter etc
