Stripping Membranes?

i had it done 2 times and i didnt think that it hurt. it didnt help me at all i was still 6 days over with my son. luckily i went into labor on my own the day i had my doctors apointment so that i didnt have to be induced

i had it done with both my children..with my first I had him 3 days later and my second they had to do it twice... the 2nd time though i started contracting right after i left the doctors office..went into full labor at 4am had my little angel at 1:16pm that same day... so it is worth the shot!

I got mine swipped when i was 39 weeks as i was 4cm but nothing happened then had it done again at 40 weeks still 4cm exactly a week later and my son was born 24 hours later.

i as well had it done 3 times with this little bean and nothing!!! she was 3 days overdue born july 15th :) good luck to anyone who has it done, i've heard it works for some people!! I also tried castor oil, long walks, bumpy drives.....hahahahha

When the doctor strips your membranes its really uncomfortable. I had it done three times before my daughter was born. It may or may not help, but it doesn't hurt to try. All the doctor does is swipe their finger around your cervix. Mostly labor starts withing the next day or two. Unfortunately Bella, my daughter, still had to be induced. Good Luck

Thanks ladies for the info. I did choose to have it done yesterday morning, it was not very painful so that was nice, I was a little crampy last night but other than that nothing so far. I am 4 1/2 centies dialated and baby is fully engaged so anytime now I hope!

Just had mine done today fingers crossed it might help something happen if not I'm booked in for an induction on Monday am hoping the sweep will have helped so they induction wont be needed. good luck !

i am 39 weeks due in 5 days i just had mine swiped hasent done anything its not a for sure thing that it will work but its worth a try good luck hope yours woks better than my swiping.

Stripping of the membranes only works about half of the time. I had it done with my daughter. It was painful and didn't work. If i had a choice though I would do it again before an induction just because if you can get things going naturally thats always best.
