At my doctors appointment this week my doc said that if I wanted she would strip my membranes next appointment. I will be 39 1/2 weeks at next appointment. this is my second child, first one my water broke at 36 1/2 weeks all natural. Wondering if anyone has had this done before and what your experience was, she is totally leaving it up to me if I want to have it done or not just looking for advice. The only reasons I am considering is A.I am ready for this baby to come out, and B. My doc is going on vacation on the 25th. Really am hoping to go before that though.

i had it done with both my children..with my first I had him 3 days later and my second they had to do it twice... the 2nd time though i started contracting right after i left the doctors office..went into full labor at 4am had my little angel at 1:16pm that same day... so it is worth the shot!

When the doctor strips your membranes its really uncomfortable. I had it done three times before my daughter was born. It may or may not help, but it doesn't hurt to try. All the doctor does is swipe their finger around your cervix. Mostly labor starts withing the next day or two. Unfortunately Bella, my daughter, still had to be induced. Good Luck

Stripping of the membranes only works about half of the time. I had it done with my daughter. It was painful and didn't work. If i had a choice though I would do it again before an induction just because if you can get things going naturally thats always best.
