Am so jealous, i never dialated with my first until i was induced a week later, even though labour lasted less than 3 hours. i am still not having even fake contractions and am due on thursday. I am still hoping i will go to labor on my own.

I was 3cm for a few weeks with my last one. I don't go by dilation for guessing when little one gets here. I do believe Amanda's right on that one. Doesn't mean much, just something to get us excited about knowing that we're close enough to deliver for them to check for dilation. :)

From what I understand, dilation and effacement really have no impact on whether or not baby is coming sooner or later...you could be stuck at 1 and 50 for four more weeks, or go into labor the next day...it just all depends on baby and your body and if they are ready to go.

That being said: with my first, I was 1cm and 50% effaced at 37 weeks, and had her at 38 weeks 2 days. With this baby, at 36 weeks I was 1cm and 50% effaced, and I'll be 39 weeks this Thursday with no real good signs that he's coming yet (and my doctor wont check me again until I'm in labor, so I'm not sure if I've made any progress, though I sure hope I have!)

Good luck, and labor vibes to you soon :) baby will come eventually, that's what I keep telling myself. Lol.
